The town offers the Mill on the Fleet, a visitor centre in the former bobbin mill, telling the tale of Gatehouse's cotton spinning days. The town has a Spar supermarket, chemist, post office, cafes and pubs. Ideal for walkers, cyclists, golfers, climbers, water sports, fishing & art lovers. Gatehouse of Fleet lies on the Solway Firth, in Dumfries and Galloway, a beautiful area to visit.

Visitors to this wonderful area can stay within the grounds of Knockbrex Castle. The area is a walkers and biking paradise and just a short walk (5-10 minutes) to various beaches. Travel a little to sample the delights in the local area like the chocolate of the Cocoabean Company. Enjoy a walk to the local pubs for lunch at Gatehouse of Fleet or Borgue. The Solway coast is easily accessible by car or bike and has wonderful secret beaches sandy coves to explore.
