A 5 minute walk into Dornoch with its stylish Scottish stone buildings, Cathedral, pubs, restaurants, cafes & gorgeous independent shops. Its one mile from the stunning beach and famous Royal Dornoch golf course. The house is our personal respite holiday home away from our Scottish Highlands rewilding croft 15 miles away. It's the perfect stepping stone towards the full off-grid experience, intended for people who are curious about living the off-grid lifestyle but also like to be able to charge their phone, boil a kettle and have a hot shower! A cosy mid-terraced fishermans cottage, now with a wood burner, located only 1 minute walking distance to the gorgeous Shandwick beach. Ideal for a peaceful seaside holiday retreat. Shandwick is one of three small coastal communities that along with Balintore and Hilton that make up the seaboard villages. Logs: we provide a bag of logs for each stay per week.If you require extra logs, I can provide contact details of logs providers locally. Well behaved (not too large) dogs also welcome.

Easily accessed from the A9 (on the NC500 route) and just a two-minute walk from a secluded beach and estuary with lots of short walks from the front door and plenty longer ones in the vicinity. Modern appliances and comfortable furnishings, the cottage has everything you will need for a relaxing break.

Our cosy & compact Shepherds hut is situated near to the stunning NC500, 20 minutes from the town of Tain, where all amenities can be found. The hut offers a warm & comfortable place to relax & unwind. Our hut caters for 2, with a king sized bed, ensuite shower room, kitchen area and a wood burning stove. Outside, there is seating & open views. Situated in an area of natural beauty you will find yourself surrounded by stunning scenery, mountains, forests & beaches all waiting to be explored.

Garden Cottage with hot tub, castle & sea views

This charming cottage is completely unique having the old Redcastle ruin as a back drop and views of the Beauly Firth directly in front. There is an idyllic stream going through the garden and we have recently planted a wild flower meadow at the end of the garden. It has been beautifully refurbished in 2023 and we feel incredibly proud of the results. The cottage is located in the sleepy hamlet of Milton of Redcastle and really is an idyllic and very comfortable place to come and unwind.

The Factor’s Office, Nutwood House

The Factor's Office is a luxury boutique room, with separate entrance, garden space and ensuite, situated as part of the historic Nutwood House. Formally part of the Earl of Cromartie estate with magnificent views of the valley and less than 5 minutes walk to Strathpeffer village and amenities. Situated in a beautiful peaceful location, a great base to explore the Highlands. There are many activities to enjoy, forest walks, mountain biking, fishing etc. Can also be booked with The Lodge.

A bothy bedroom in the heart of the Cairngorms

Connected to the old cruck barn this is a compact, cosy, self contained bedroom. It’s set on one side of the courtyard with separate key access so you can come and go at will. If you love the outdoors, we think you will love it here. We have spectacular views of the Cairngorms, with excellent walks from the door. Rustic, with loads of character, the room has a comfy king size bed and en suite bathroom with shower. If you need mod cons or lots of space this may not be the place for you!

The Nissen hut at HMS Owl was originally built in 1941 by the RAF. The Owl is our family home and took us 5 years to restore it. It has been featured on TV and in numerous design publications. HMS Owl is pretty special as is the restored Nissen available to rent. The Hut is cosy, warm and private with large living space and kitchen and large ensuite bedroom. Brilliant log burners in livingspace and bedrooms Outdoor wood fired Hot tub available (extra charge arrange with Charl)
