Co budeš dělat

After meeting at Kawagoe station, we walk to Nariko's Kitchen studio.

We will use our feet to knead the dough because the dough is quite hard. You might be surprised to hear it but this is actually the traditional Japanese way of making it. Don’t worry, it’s all going to be very hygienic! We will cover up the dough with plastic bags and knead it with our feet. We will also make dashi (stock) to make the soup.
And as a final step we will make tempura: You will learn how to prepare shrimp and vegetables for tempura .

After enjoying the food you made, I will take you to a supermarket (optional, morning class only) and introduce the ingredients which we used in the class.

Note:
-We will use dashi(stock) sachet which is easy to use for udon soup.
-We will use tempura flour for tempura batter.
Other things to note
-I also have "Traditional Japanese sweets & Matcha tea" class and "Home style Ramen & Gyoza" class.

I’m Nariko and I offer Japanese cooking classes out of Nariko’s Kitchen, a cooking studio located in Kawagoe city which is only 30 minutes from center of Tokyo.

I was a child who always liked to help my mother in the kitchen. I gained more interest on cooking when I lived abroad and had a chance to do cooking sessions as part of my job. Until recently, I’ve been teaching Japanese cooking in Malaysia as a cooking instructor and conducted classes for individuals and companies, and also gave cooking demonstration at cultural events.

We will meet at Kawagoe station, then walk to my kitchen. Kawagoe is known for "Koedo (there are many traditional houses and aroma of Edo-era)" which is one of the most popular towns to visit in outside of Tokyo. Please enjoy this beautiful town after the cooking class!

Nariko is a very organized and experienced teacher. Even though we cook at home, we learned many tips and experienced a new way of cooking and using ingredients. This was a fun cooking class to experience in Tokyo. I would highly recommend it. My kids are 14 and 16 and also really enjoyed the experience.

Nariko turned cutting up dough to make noodles into a delightful, informative and tasty experience. You also learn how to make a simple dashi broth and tempura vegetables and shrimp (prawns to us Australians!). All useful skills to take home with you. There is nothing like recreating the flavours and tastes of your holiday at home!

Our cooking experience in Nariko’s Kitchen was the perfect way to end our honeymoon in Japan. Nariko is a wonderful host and she took the time to really connect with us.
