Please make the Carriage House your home away from home. Extra towels, blankets, and pillows can be found in the hall cupboard, and you are welcome to use the washer and dryer, but you will need to bring your own soap. While we do not keep the kitchen specifically stocked, please help yourself to anything provided.
As for the ranch itself, please feel free to wander our lovely property. We ask that you do NOT enter any pastures without permission, but many of the horses will stick their heads over the fences for attention and you are welcome to pet them. Foals are typically born February-April, and please let us know if you would like to be woken up to watch should a mare foal overnight during your stay.
Guests are also welcome to help feed the horses (close-toed shoes mandatory) and chickens, and to help collect the eggs. Please ask Barb for details on where and when to meet our staff during your stay.
Vztahy s hosty
The hosts, Matt and Barbara, or one of their staff are always on the ranch and are only a phone call or text away. We let our guests set the level of interaction - some guests prefer a private get-away, while others quickly become like family.
Další věci, které stojí za zmínku
If you are looking for a country life setting complete with chickens, ducks,
horses, cats, and Bokeh, the ranch dog, welcome. We believe we have the best of both worlds surrounded by vineyards but surrounded by the amenities of town. You can walk to Michael David Winery by back roads (about 2 miles), and a few guests have.
The ranch is located next to railroad track which is active. Guests at the Carriage House have said that they notice the first train or two, but then barely realize they're passing.
Typically, for about four weeks in late summer, the local vineyards use air cannons to keep the birds away. They are set to timers, and most people quickly tune out the sound. They turn on at dawn, then are turned off at sunset. Even guests who are sensitive to sound have remarked on how peaceful the ranch is, so we expect you will find the same.
This is a ranch community, so please no loud noises or music after 10pm or before 8am. NO OPEN FLAMES of any kind - we have beautiful battery operated candles in the home to add a romantic glow. Infants who are not walking are welcome - there are just too many things for curious little hands to reach once babies are mobile.
I am a Christian wife, mother, rancher, artist. I love sunflowers and hollyhocks, and hunting for vintage treasures! I get excited over a new great recipe. I am an easy guest, and I think a gracious hostess with guests .
