Ty Cwch is an unusual and architecturally unique property close to stunning sand beaches, beautiful Snowdonian waterfalls and the famous Harlech Castle. Sleeping a maximum of 8 guests it makes a perfect location for any family holiday, or alternative retreat.
Please note that the house does not have vehicle access and you have to walk to it. The walk is along a public footpath, across a field and alongside a river. It takes about 10 minutes, and is well worth it once you get there!
The house was built in the 1930s by Sir John Black as a ‘sailing retreat’. He was the MD at Triumph cars, and he had the house engineered at the car factory and transported to Wales on a special train with a mini rail to the site! It was originally built on stilts, because in the winter the sea would sometimes reach the house, as at that time there were no sea defenses.
Now, the ground floor is also part of the living space and it has been designed beautifully with lots of porthole windows to continue the nautical theme.
We have good wireless internet and use it to stream music and watch digital channels on the TV. The house is well equipped as we use it a lot,
Plenty of linen, towels, books, CD's, DVD's, kitchen supplies etc.
It is not centrally heated, but we have a wood burner downstairs and plenty of electric heaters, so you will not be cold. The water supply is low pressure, so we have two electric showers which are perfectly adequate and hot. We have a very large original bath, but we tend not to use it because it takes a long time to fill.
The house has a wonderful balcony all the way around it, with access from many rooms. It has a big flat roof which you can go up onto, with wonderful views of the surrounding countryside. The property is set in a wild and wonderful garden of about an acre. We have lots of garden furniture and hammocks, and some swings for children, etc. It is all quite rustic, but beautifully charming and most guests fall in love with the place and do not want to leave. Remember, you have to walk across the fields to get to the house....not for everyone, so bring good footwear, especially in the winter.
The village of Llanbedr is a 20 minute walk and it has two great pubs that serve nice food.

We live in London, but we employ a lady close by who looks after the house and does the cleaning etc.
Další věci, které stojí za zmínku
Ty Cwch is a great place for those seeking to retreat from the busyness of life and get away from it all. Perfect for walkers, sailors, artists, writers, anyone into yoga and meditation etc. Also good for families with children who want to holiday together and enjoy lots of safe space for the children to play.
Also note that this house is just as perfect for a couple as it is for larger groups..... the space is cosy and the bedrooms are like cabins on a boat, so it does not feel too large for a small group.
Mobile phone coverage is patchy, but we can usually get a signal somewhere in the house.
We have a single track railway line quite close, so you will hear some trains but they are infrequent. It is the Cambrian Coast line which ambles around to the Llyn Peninsula. We have a little station very close called Pensarn. Very useful, as it means you can holiday here without a car...we often arrive from London by train and find the journey itself very relaxing and scenic.
