Charming house on two floors with a large garden in the mountain village of Montelungo. It has 3 double bedrooms and a sofa bed, with beautiful views of the breathtaking Lunigiana. Walking distance to the local bar and 2 restaurants in the village.
1 hour away from Pisa and Parma, 40 minutes from the Ligurian beaches and an hour away from Le Cinque Terre, this is a great base to explore northern Tuscany.
The house is laid out over 2 floors with 3 double bedrooms (one of which is a childrens bedroom with 2 adult size beds), and a sofa bed. There is a fully equipped kitchen and a small living room upstairs, along with the bedrooms, and downstairs is the taverna (italian living / dining room) with a dvd player and tv (connected only to the dvd, no channels). There is also a fondo (cellar) which houses the washing machine, barbecue and outdoor garden furniture (this furniture will be moved out to the garden during the summer months).
As you walk into the house, if you go right there is a living room, then a bedroom and bathroom. If you go left there is a corridor, then 2 bedrooms, bathroom and kitchen. There are towels in the cupboard in the bathroom. If you go straight down the stairs you will come to a locked green door. There is a hook on the inside of the door with keys, one of them should unlock the door (it’s a bit stiff). As you walk out of the door and go right, there is another locked door which leads you to the taverna (Italian living room), the key to unlock this door is also on the hook inside the door by the stairs. When you unlock the tavern door, you have to turn the key ‘backwards’ instead of the normal way. The boiler and instructions are in the back store room adjoining the taverna. If you go left when you come out of the door downstairs you will find 2 cantine, the first one is locked with no access, and second one has the washing machine (keys to unlock it are also on the inside hook).
Inside either the cantina are sun loungers, a barbeque, and a large outdoor table and benches, which are kept outside the taverna during the summer months.

The Trattoria Pinelli in the village serve lunch and dinner, and the owners are very friendly and informative.
In Pontremoli there are lots of restaurants, as you exit Pontremoli on the SS 62 towards Montelungo there is a restaurant called San Giorgio which is very good. If you wander around Pontremoli you will come across lots of places to eat.
Pontremoli has lots of supermarkets, butchers, bakeries, etc.
There is a market in Pontremoli on Wednesday and Saturday mornings which sells just about everything.
There are lots of walking trails in Montelungo and Cisa, with beautiful views, including a 45 minute hike to an old watermill.
Also visit the old castle in Pontremoli, and the Fosdinovo castle (about 30 minutes away). They do great tours of the Fosdinovo castle, and if you are lucky one of the vinyards will be open when you are there.
The beach is 45 minutes away by car, drive to Lerici, Marina di Massa, or Fiascherino.
Pisa, Parma and Lucca are all only an hour away, and make lovely day trips.
Florence is a two hour trip away.
Le Cinque Terre - 5 beautiful villages on the coast linked by boat, train and car. Best to drive to La Spezia and take the train where you can jump on and off for the day and bring your walking shoes and swimming gear.
Corchia - beautiful village which is about 45 minutes away, serving the best pizza . Great walking around there too, trust your gps to make sure you find it!
Portofino, St. Margarita di Ligure and the rest of the Ligurian coast are other great areas to visit.
