100-year-old home with soft vintage linens and furniture, but with updated appliances. 2ND FLOOR: Master bedroom. Guest room. Bath has claw foot tub & separate shower. 1ST FLOOR: Dining Room, Living Room, Bath w shower, and Kitchen with pots, pans, spices, utensils, crockpot, roasting & baking pans. OUTSIDE: Front porch, back deck, & back yard.

WHY THIS HOME? Because you can relax and enjoy the sounds of ferry boats and seagulls from your over-100-year-old Victorian home. Large couch and small bathroom with shower on 1st floor are perfect for those who can't do stairs. Second floor has a claw foot tub in addition to the shower. Fully equipped kitchen includes a dishwasher, gas stove, china, glassware dinnerware, silverware and basic utensils. Wireless internet access included. Living room and guest bedroom have TVs.
NEIGHBORHOOD: Your home is in the Park View neighborhood, the first established residential "suburb" of the City of Portsmouth, annexed into Portsmouth in 1894. Your home sits on Owens Creek, directly across from Owens Park.
WHAT'S UNIQUE: This home is part of our Preservation Park View organization and we use all profits for our neighborhood programs such as our Caring Angels Program, Art with a Heart, Mentors for Life, and many more. So you can enjoy giving, while taking a vacation! Easy :)

GUEST ACCESS: Access the home via the keyless lock system on the front door. I will give you the combination within a few days of your arrival. You have access to the entire home except spaces marked "Private," (one closet, one dresser, the basement, attic, and supply room).
KEY: I will phone you with access information within a few days of your arrival.
PARKING and LAWN MAINTENANCE: Please do NOT park on the west side of the home (to the LEFT as you look at the front door) as I’m trying to grow grass on that side. Instead, park on the east side of the home (to the right as you are looking at the front door).

Although none of my neighbors is “rich” in monetary ways, our active neighborhood organizations and community spirit make us rich in other ways. I've lived here for nine years and watched my neighbors help and look out for each other in countless ways. This is truly an "old-fashioned" neighborhood, in the best sense.

I worked for the Air Force Research Laboratory and bought a home in Dayton, Ohio, 20 years ago as a renovation project. With almost 6,000 square feet, the home almost satisfied my urge. That is, until about 10 years ago when, after the lab transferred me to Virginia, I bought a home in Portsmouth, and renovated that home too. Now that both homes are “finished” (they never seem to be completely finished) its time for embellishments. For 2020 I’d like to install a brick walkway to the VA garden with used bricks I’ve collected over the years. For the OH home, I’d like to finish off the 3rd floor, where I stay when guests are not renting. If you'd like to share your renovation stories with me, I'll be all ears. I also like to oil paint and belong to a collaborative art club called Art in a Box. Five things I could not live without? Family, road trips, jazz, art, and gardening. If I met you in person, I hope you'd find me a good listener, calm, respectful, happy, and fun. Ok
