Guests can walk or hike anywhere on the property; up to the top of our blueberry hill or down through the orchard. There are trails to a bridge over Tucker Brook and up to a natural spring. Bob needs to mark the trails but they are close to the house and easy. Knox and Waldo counties in Maine have a high deer tick population so please dress appropriately for maximum coverage for walking or hiking. You may also wish to look up the homeopathic remedy Ledum, which many people use for Lyme prevention. This is indeed a working farm and you will see ancient trucks, farm equipment, rusty things, and the like.
Nothing is off limits but the farm pond.

Mia works as a therapist three long days a week ( Tue-Wed-Thu) and will answer texts as possible in between appointments and be available if needed at other times. She will sometimes text you with a restaurant suggestion or just to make sure all is well. Bob is on the premises every week day and can help if needed. We love meeting guests but want to respect that some folks are just here to relax. So in terms of meeting we will absolutely take our cue from you!

A lot to note! First we welcome all guests, and honor diversity. During apple season the main cider pressing days are Thursdays and Sundays. *Noise and activity begin by 8:00 am. Though the space is well-insulated, you will sometimes be able to hear the apple grinder by 7:30. Caveat emptor: People who need or want to sleep in on these days kindly be advised! You can watch the cider operation if you like. Sundays we press other peoples' apples for them and have many customers who have come with their families for this joyous ritual for years! We use natural laundry and dish soaps and use no dryer sheets or fabric softener. We do NOT iron our sheets. Maybe some day when we can hire a laundry person! Our water is from these hills and good to drink. Our lovely trees are delicate. We have never used sprays or pesticides of any kind, so our apples are not "dessert quality" in looks ---some have bumps and blotches---but they are highly nutritious due to the high nutrient content of our soil.In season you can buy cider and vinegar is for sale year round, with a day or two notice, as Bob ages the vinegar 3 years and we bottle on demand.
- Bathroom and shower are small and kitchen is literally the size of a sailboat galley. Very robust people or chefs please be advised!
- This is a working farm. Please be with your child when he or she walks or hikes.
- From our blueberry hill ( 900 feet above sea level) you have amazing views of Norton Pond, Megunticook lake, the Camden Hills and the ocean beyond. You can also see to Acadia and, from the top, to the Western Foothills of Maine. You may pick and eat some blueberries in season. Same with apples.
Please, no smoking. We like to keep shoes outside for maximum cleanliness. Maine recycles so we ask guests to rinse bottles and cans and put them aside in bags we provide. We are an organic farm and so we compost. Clear instructions are posted in each unit about these things. We thank you!!
