Prato di Sotto is something very special: a tranquil home away from home in the stunning Umbrian hills. The ideal location to truly get away from it all. If peaceful surroundings, stunning views, lazy hours by the pool, star gazing under clear night skies and the best of Italian produce are your thing, Prato is the place to be. Affordable luxury at its best.
Il Molino is a charming apartment with an open plan living/sleeping area and a separate bathroom perfect for two people. Lovingly restored by owner Penny, and furnished with her personal collection of kilim rugs and antiques from around the world, the emphasis is on comfort and style.
Situated on the top floor of a 14th century olive mill, Il Molino has a covered terrace overlooking the central courtyard, as well as a private open-air terrace with BBQ facilities, deck chairs and valley views to die for. There is a small but well equipped kitchen with an oven, hob and fridge, and a separate bathroom with a bath and shower. The apartment also boasts satellite TV, stereo and Wifi, with a wood burning stove for the cooler months.
The garden has been carefully designed to offer elegance and privacy, scented with roses, jasmine and lavender, while the 15m infinity pool is ideal for relaxing with a book after a refreshing swim. Penny offers her guests a unique mix of rugged Umbrian scenery with the warm hospitality of an English country house, sharing her knowledge of Italy, the pick of her vegetable garden and the company of her friendly dogs, always available for walks!
This charming retreat, high in the Umbrian hills, offers luxurious comfort and perfect peace, yet is only 30 minutes drive from Perugia.
The property sits high above the tiny, picturesque 13th century hamlet of Santa Giuliana. Plenty of walking routes start at our doorstep, and we can arrange for horse-back riding, golf and other leisure pursuits. A huge number of day trips are within easy reach of Prato. There are too many to mention, but a selection includes St Francis’s burial site in medieval Assisi, the charming towns of Citta de Castello, Gubbio, Spoleto and Sienna, the Piero della Francesca trail (San Sepolcro, Monterchi and Arezzo), the archeological wonders of Cortona, wine tours at Montefalco and water sports at Lake Trasimeno, and plenty of little hill-top villages to explore.
Our guest say a stay at Prato di Sotto is unforgettable – but don’t take our word for it. See our reviews on TripAdvisor.

Další věci, které stojí za zmínku
You will need a car - the property is reached via a well-maintained gravel road, easily managed by any car (4 x 4 not required)
The property is self-catering, but we can arrange for a local cook to prepare your meals at extra cost.
There are no restaurants within walking distance, but a huge selection of eateries, bars and shops in all directions within 20 minutes’ drive. We have a large restaurants list and Penny is also on hand for tips and recommendations.
Guests should be pet-friendly - Umbria's friendliest dogs live on the property. They are completely child-friendly and always up for a pat.
Plus please use water carefully as it is a scarce resource, and switch off lights at night so we can all enjoy the stars.
This is a very tranquil spot, so loud music and late-night parties are not what we are about
Hello, I am Penny and came to Umbria 22 years ago to explore the possibilities of a completely new life in the hills of Umbria. My background was marketing and advertising London. I have since restored a group of historic buildings in a wonderful hilltop location in Umbria. I enjoy country life and the artistic and cultural possibilities of this area. I also love food and wine and often share this with friends and guests. Can't live without dogs, country walks, friends, food music (opera and jazz) and of course museums and art galleries. I am co-founder of a local charity to help abandoned animals
