Welcome to Hale Hanai. Enjoy a warm tropical feel in our spacious (650 sq ft!) studio apartment with Kitchenette and full amenities. Stay in the heart of beautiful Lawai, close to beaches, restaurants, fun activities and nightlife. Private entry and waterfall garden surrounded by hibiscus and orchids is perfect for pupus or BBQ. Enjoy the beauty of the South Shore without the high price. Our place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travelers (and can accommodate families too).
Hale Hanai means "extended family home" in Hawaiian and we hope you'll feel right at home in this charming, large and airy attached apartment. We are located in a quiet neighborhood in Lawai, just 5-10 minutes from sunny Poipu beaches, shopping and restaurants and charming Old Koloa Town.
Your private apartment is attached to the main house, but has two separate and private entrances and its own small private garden for relaxing and BBQ-ing after a long day of adventures.
The South Shore of Kauai is perfect for soaking up the sun or driving to close-by adventures such as zip lining, ATV rides, Napali boat tours, or Waimea Canyon explorations. After the beach, enjoy a wonderful soak in the whirlpool tub or luxurious river stone shower. Some of the best restaurants on the island are just 10 minutes away, but you can cook in your own small kitchen if relaxing is your preference. The room is large, so if you have one or two additional guests we can offer cots at a small additional charge.
Please note, that, like most homes on Kauai, WE DO NOT HAVE AIR CONDITIONING. Electricity charges here on Kauai are astronomical, so we all enjoy the trade winds and overhead fans :-). There is a lovely breeze that flows through the room and two adjustable ceiling fans to keep the temperature cool, but for those that require air conditioning, a larger hotel would probably be a better choice.
The garden is lovely, but there is no view to speak of. You are surrounded by flowers and a waterfall pond, but if you desire an ocean view, this probably isn't the space for you. The apartment is on the street side of the property, but our rural neighborhood is quiet and uneventful. But beware, the countryside comes with Kauai chickens (which abound on the island) and their crowing, and they are occasionally joined by the distant barking of neighborhood dogs. A very Kauai experience. I also wanted to mention bugs...we do get them, it is the tropics and it comes with the territory. The room is cleaned and vacuumed 100% after every guest and all windows are screened, but I just wanted to mention that the odd mosquito might get in the room since we aren't a closed up hotel. The local fauna isn't really a problem, but I know some people can be concerned, so I just to mention it in case you wanted to take this into consideration.

This is a private apartment attached to the main house (where we live). Access is only through your own private entrance. The room is 650 sq feet with a comfy pillow top queen bed, relaxing chairs and dinning area. The kitchenette is equipped with an induction cooking burner, small refrigerator and microwave as well as all other amenities you'd want to eat-in or just keep snacks.
The private bath is beautifully appointed and serene.
There is no AC, but it is rarely needed as the trade winds blow through the multiple windows and doors keeping the room at a comfortable temperature. Quiet overhead fans circulate the air and provide a relaxing ambiance. The room is attached to the main house and there will be some overflow of noise, but we retire early. Quite time between 12:00 am and 6:00 am please.

Since this is a private apartment, we figure you are looking for privacy and we will give you as much as you need. We'd love to meet you though, please come say hello when you arrive if we haven't seen you. And remember, we are always available if you need any equipment, advice or even just a little aloha. Just a knock on the door and we are there for you.
We are relatively new to Airbnb but we are not new to hosting. My husband and I sailed around the Pacific and Asia for 15 years aboard our sailboat Windrose. We hosted many guests and charters over the years and love to talk story with other adventurers. We hope you join us!
Guests self check in, so anytime check in is fine, providing there is time between guests to clean the room and make it just right for your stay. Same goes for check out. I've put a 12:00 noon check out time down, but if you need to stay later, just ask. Sometimes we are here and sometimes we are not, when you arrive, no worries, instructions for the room are on the table.
Další věci, které stojí za zmínku
The room is full of everything you need for a great stay. Beach chairs, snorkeling gear, coolers, towels, you name it. Need anything else? Just ask!
Other (less exciting) things are also provided, such as an iron, make-up area, hair dryer, etc. There are no laundry facilities, but we can help with this if you need it
We will consider pets, but please ask first!
Check out time is flexible. I've put 12:00 noon as a time, but if you need to stay longer, please just ask. If we don't have someone coming in the next day (so I have to get in to clean), a late check out isn't a problem.
Because the apartment is attached to the main house, there will be some noise overflow, but it shouldn't be bothersome. There are 4 adults that live in the main house: Bonnie and Steve and our son Jesse and his fiance' Corynn. We all work or go to school full time and turn in early, but the occasional game of Catan or an exciting movie might keep us up later. If this bothers you (or if you'd like to join us :-)), just let us know.
- Extra people considered, please ask. $10 per night for extra guests (above 2 people).
-We are pretty flexible regarding many things, if you have an event or young child, please ask us. If you have a pet, just ask us. We are NOT flexible regarding smoking, NO smoking allowed-thanks!
-Because the apartment is attached to the house, there will be some noise overflow. Not much, but if the occasional game of Catan or an exciting movie gets loud, please let us know and we'll do the same.
"In the end, its not the years in your life that count, its the life in your years."
Travel has been on the top of my list since I was young. I started backpacking right out of college and fell in love with adventure. My husband, Steve, and I then spent 15 years traveling around the world on our 48' sailboat, Windrose. She is a beauty, a classic Sparkman and Stephens yawl, built for long distance exploration. We spent many years in the pacific and Asia, eventually sailing over 40 thousand miles and visiting over 20 countries along the way.
Of course there are adventures on land too. We trekked up to Annapurna base camp in Nepal, traveled via small gauge railroad in the Copper Canyon of Mexico, explored Siam Reap and Angkor Wat via motorcycle, took a boat up the Mekong Delta and lived with the hill tribes of Vietnam.
Now that Hawaii is our home we enjoy sharing our space and talking story with other adventurers from near and far. We like to meet people as we travel and prefer small hotels and homes to big fancy resorts. But that doesn't mean we don't like our comforts too. That's why we've tried to provide the kind of comfortable, yet relaxed and easy space we'd enjoy staying in.
Besides traveling, good books, good movies and good food are our favorite things. Of course they are oftentimes best shared with friends, new and old.
