Salthouse is a picturesque village located on the North Norfolk Coast just north of the small market town of Holt, and just east of Blakeney and Cley. Salthouse is a situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and overlooks the salt marshes next to the Norfolk Wildlife Trust Nature Reserve at Cley. Clustered around the village green are pretty cottages, a pub with a large front garden that looks directly over the salt marsh, Cookies Crab Shop offering platters of seafood, salads, sandwiches and ice cream. East of the village, past the village pond, is a cottage where you can buy Fish & Chips during the summer months. The magnificent church of Salthouse holds regular art exhibitions and concerts throughout the year. A new shop has recently opened called The Old Post Office selling local produce including beef from the cattle grazed on the marsh. The beach is mainly pebble and shingle, but unlike other parts of the Norfolk coast, the tide does not go out very far. Parking is easy and it is perfect for a picnic.
