The Camano Hermitage is a place of retreat for meditation, contemplation, creativity or just relaxation! For guest purposes it is a 2-bedroom, 1 full bath home (master suite reserved for visits from owners when home is not rented). It has a lovely view of the bay called Port Susan, looking northeast, across the bay toward the town of Stanwood above which rises the majestic snow covered volcano, Mt Baker! All are welcome, whether for rest and relaxation or for meditation.
Established by long-term meditators as a place for personal seclusion, we welcome like-minded friends. A deck with chairs allows enjoyment of the expansive view. Each bedroom is set up with a focal point for meditation. Members of Ananda sometimes take retreat here. Ananda is a worldwide work inspired by Paramhansa Yogananda, author of "Autobiography of a Yogi."

Owners, Hriman and Padma McGilloway, reserve the master bedroom and bath for personal use (but not when guests are booked to stay there!). Guests have use of the rest of the home. The main guest room we call the "Sun Room" has a queen bed. The second bedroom has a bunk bed with a double below and a twin above.
We have wi-fi, TV, dishwashing machine, stove, refrigerator with a few basics, several types of coffee makers, microwave, blender. We send out a Word file with info and the door code (instead of a key).
Kitchen has dishwashing machine and is supplied with basic spices and condiments in the refrigerator. In the garage is the washer and dryer.
We ask our peace-loving guests to refrain from smoking, from alcohol and from cooking of meat.

We are not in residence during your stay but we have friends nearby in case something important is needed. You are welcome however to call, text, or email us.

There is beach access to 3 nearby beaches: Beach #3 is within walking distance. We have a key code for auto entrance to Beach #2 which has a picnic area. Beach #1 and #2 are easy kayak launch spots.
Ananda Farm is a ten minute drive away.
On the counter in the kitchen, usually kept inside a book-like box is the code to Beach #2 to drive in. The other beaches are walk-in. There are two state parks nearby as well.
We send to you the code for the door the day before your arrival with, by email, a set of detailed instructions. The home is cleaned twice a month so please take a look at the instructions which include taking with you all trash and recycle; running the sheets etc. through the washing machine and placing into the dryer before leaving. Typically the sheets can found in the dryer when you arrive or sometimes put on the guest bed(s) for you to make up; and, occasionally a guest or cleaner remakes the bed and leaves a note to that effect.
The home isn't set up for children (not "child-proof"), though we have made exceptions for families we personally know. Sorry, but the home is not open to pets! (We love them, too, but .... )
We have electric heat and a wood stove with wood and kindling available. The wood stove is a slow draft and best used by those experienced with wood stoves and staying for a few days. Using electric heat is fine.
