This is a charming older duplex apartment with a lovely yard and garden, backed up to a mini greenbelt. The apartment has many original features from when it was built and is decorated with vintage and distressed furniture. We have two bedrooms for rent individually, or you can rent the entire place if both rooms are available. If you rent the entire place, two more people can sleep on the futon in the living room, bringing the total capacity to 6 (hint hint SXSW, ACL, and F1 attendees).
This listing is for one bedroom only. We have another bedroom available also. Please see our other listings to rent the entire home. Longer terms are often possible too, just shoot us a message if you need that.
The furniture, decor, and art are mostly vintage and all unique and awesome. It has a warm, homey feel. You're going to love it.
We'll have some fresh organic fruit for you, as well as gluten-free bread, jam, peanut butter, and occasionally other snacks. The apartment has a water filter. We provide LaCroix Sparkling Water and beer sometimes too. We have tea, coffee, and a French press. Gas stove.
We have a cute backyard and patio with fun lighting for the evenings. We live next door in the other half of the duplex. However, the backyards are separate and private.
We have a sizable organic herb and vegetable garden. Feel free to use the herbs in your cooking. So many to choose from, and so tasty!

We're almost always home next door (we both work from home), so if there's a problem, just knock. For the most part, however, you won't see nor hear us, since we're in a separate apartment.

You can park on the left side of the driveway or on the street. There's very little traffic on this street, so parking on the street is no big deal.
No smoking or parties, please.
We are an active, energetic couple with lots of interests and lots of friends. We're really looking forward to some fun travels we have planned over the coming months. We rock climb several times a week, and find other ways to play in the outdoors a lot too (i.e. gardening, mountain biking, snowboarding, hiking, camping, road trips, et cetera).
We love movies, but don't have a TV or cable or anything; we'd much rather have a conversation with just about anyone than sit around watching TV. We try to get out and see shows and go dancing from time to time.
We live in Austin, Texas. Matt works as an executive at a startup and as a part-time writer.
We're easy going, We don't smoke or drink, are not into drugs, and are very easy to get along with. We don't have pets.
A few interests: travel, rock climbing, sustainable agriculture/organic farming/gardening, vegetarian cooking, mountain biking, hiking, snowboarding, concerts, eclectic music, indie movies, literature, internet marketing, entrepreneurship, writing, blogging, yoga, politics (liberal), volunteering, New Urbanism, environmental issues, improving my Spanish, apiculture (beekeeping), exploring cities and finding hole-in-the-wall restaurants and strange nooks and crannies, and trying just about anything that life has to offer.
As for culture, we dig eclectic music, indie movies, and many, many different genres of books. Not super into mainstream pop music, blockbuster movies, or throwaway literature, though we're far from a snobs about it. If it's good, fun, or even worth talking about, we'll check it out and probably enjoy it.
In addition to this site, Matt is established, vetted, and vouched for within the Couchsurfing community. We've traveled around the world a lot, staying with many different hosts. In addition, we've hosted a great many folks at our homes throughout the years. We've also met a ton of fantastic people by meeting for coffee, showing folks my city or seeing theirs, and attending various events. We like all people except haters. We get along with just about everyone we've ever met.
Hosting folks from around the world keeps the travel bug alive in us. Can't wait to get back out there for more adventures and meet more people in the coming months. :)
Our philosophy is: Yes! Yes to everything! Ok, maybe not everything. But yes to life. :)
