As a responce to the malicious comments left by Priyanka I would like to state some details that were conveniently left out of her diatribe against me.
1) She rated her checkin experience as a one star. I have Airbnb messages where she told me she would arrive around 5:30PM. I texted her at 6PM to inquire about her arrival time. She told me she would let me know her time of arrival. I heard nothing more from her but she arrived at 8PM with a man who was not part of the Airbnb reservation. This man turned out to be her cousin. Apparently her cousin had told her that she should have stayed with him as opposed to an Airbnb room. I told her that if she wanted to stay with her relatives that would be fine, but she told me she wanted to stay. I fail to understand or see where I was at fault in regards to her checkin experience since I was the one who had to wait several hours for her to arrive, and, that I offered her a way out if she wanted to stay with her family! I felt I was being considerate and accommodating to her tardiness and options.
2)Amenities! I state that my guests are welcome to use my kitchen facilities, stove, fridge, pots and pans and cutlery. I do not state that I provide any food items or products that may be required by the guest to prepare their meals or clean their mess.
After 6 days of staying as a guest who cooked every day in the kitchen it strikes me as odd that only 3-5 drops of dishwashing fluid were used to clean all those dirty pots and pans and dishes. On top of that, I found that I had to clean the stove and floors after each time Priyanka used the kitchen. I had to spend a significant amount of time cleaning after she supposedly had cleaned up after herself. My issue is that I am not here as a house maid or Hotel servant who runs after the guest cleaning up after they make a mess. I have a dining area with a large dining table and four chairs where I encourage my guests to eat their meals, however I made the mistake of not specifically telling Priyanka not to eat food in her bedroom. She cooked dishes with curries and spices that she ate on the bed and ended up dropping some on the duvet covet cover.
I did not ask Priyanka to remove the duvet cover from the bed, I did ask her if she wouldn't mind taking the pillow cases off and the bedsheets as those are washed each and every time a guest stays at my house. When I saw the duvet cover removed I thought to myself, this is odd, I did not ask her to do that. When I gathered up the duvet cover I discovered the stains that were there and washing the cover did not remove the stains.
3)NEVER I REPEAT NEVER, have I asked a guest to vacuum my house! I ask my guests to keep their room and their bathroom tidy which I feel is only right but I would never ask any guest to clean the rest of my house. If you make a mess (as could happen in the kitchen then sure clean up after yourself) but Priyanka's statement that I asked her to vacuum my house is a total fiction.
4) The 'meditation music' comment. In the mid afternoons I try to meditate for a half hour or so and the day in question when I put my meditation DVD into the player the volume was set as usual for watching television shows. She came out form her room a said to me, and I quote: 'Shut it off now!' I told her that I was turning it down so it would be soothing to meditate with but she insisted that the volume was disturbing her. I turned the system off and did not do my meditation to accommodate her, but I did tell her that in the mid afternoon it is my right in my house to either listen to music or TV at a reasonable volume.
5) Everyday Priyanka asked to borrow either a lemon, limes, or some sugar or honey, butter, tea and milk. I always gave these without comment and still I get this kind of venom after her stay.
I find it very interesting and yet odd that many of my guests claim to have had an amazing stay here and many have said, never have they seen a cleaner home then mine. Then another guest tries to make claims that my linens are not clean and that my space is not close to the downtown (when most people commute for over an hour in the GTA to get to work, the idea that the subway is less than 10minutes from my door and the the subway ride another 30 minutes to get you right into the core of this very spread out city is pretty good by Toronto standards.)
