Hi Devon, Thank you for your feedback. I’m sorry your family experienced the OC in the hottest weekend of the year so far. I wish I had heard more from you and your family while they were staying at my place and knew more about the discomfort. First I want to point out that you were not staying at my place personally, your brothers and their wives were. I was communicating with your brother via texting over the whole period of time they were there. Now I'd like to clarify the situation a little, if I may. As for the air conditioning, it is working fine, and we had no complaints right up to that weekend, when the heat wave hit the OC. As you know the thermostat is only a switch to turn the actual air conditioning on or off when certain temperature is reached. The way this thermostat’s display works is sometimes confusing to the guests. I tried to explain it to your brother over texts. The 88 shown on the display has been the actual temperature in the living room at that time, and not the desired temperature. It means the AC would have stayed on until a user would turn it off. It has nothing to do with the actual functionality of the AC unit. The Thermostat is in the living room with a very high sealing and an open kitchen and is usually warmer than the bedrooms. The bedrooms are usually even cooler than that. The AC has been working very hard, otherwise the inside temperature would have been 105. Your guests arrived close to 5PM on Friday evening and told me about the AC at 7PM. At that point I asked your brother to please open some windows to create a draft, which usually helps to reduce the temperature after the sun down and use the fan and offered to bring more fans and cooling devices over, to which he said: Don’t worry we are going to be OK. On a Friday night after 7PM, I didn't have more options to help. The next day I send him 2 or more texts and offered to bring more devices and he never responded to me. I saved all the texts. Thereafter the only text I’ve got from your brother was to announce their departure on the check out day. I wish the situation was communicated better with me, so I could provide portable AC units or something to make your family’s stay more comfortable. After having the conversation with your brother and not hearing anything back from them, I assumed that they were fine, but then I see your review indicating they were not. Sadly, a little too late for improving their experience. Since that weekend there are a lot of improvements done in the condo. I added 3 more portable AC units. Now each room has its own unit installed in addition to the central unit and the thermostat is being exchanged with a new and less confusing one. If possible, I’ll add more pictures of how the temperature feels like these days in the condo. I take constructive criticism very seriously and work hard to make changes to improve the quality of my guest’s experiences at my place. From one Super Host to another, I believe we should have shown more fairness and communicated better. Have a great summer!
