IIIGENhome [3GEN home] is an eclectic home in a quaint neighborhood, close to all the main sites of the city. 10 mins walk to the HCM mausoleum and the largest park/botanical garden in the city, 15 mins to West Lake and 15 mins to Old town by car.
The taxi will drop you off at the Village's gate and it will be about 7 minutes walk. The house is easy to find with just 2 turns. The home is absolutely safe and equipped with 24/7 surveillance exterior camera at the gate.

Prostor
IIIGEN home is located in Ngoc Ha Village, a central yet quaint neighborhood of the city of Hanoi. The home is 200m2 and has 3 floors with courtyard, terrace and adjacent spa area.

Bedrooms
The home has 5 bedrooms
4 have queen spring mattress (23 cm thick)
1 has latex mattress with a mattress topper (10 cm thick + 3 cm topper)

Bathrooms
4 full baths with a spa including a jacuzzi and steam sauna in an adjacent structure - connected by the courtyard.

Living rooms
1 piano room within a bedroom on the first floor
1 informal living room within a bedroom on the second floor
1 large living room with reading area on the third floor adjacent to roof top patio

The dining area is in a green house, adjacent to a little garden. It is perfect for a large group who prefer staying together while still having enough privacy. We recommend 5 couples or 10 people. The home can accommodate up to 13 guests and possibly more but it has to be requested in advanced since we will have to move furniture around to add floor mattresses. The neighborhood is quiet compared to the bustling chaos around the city, yet just a 15 minutes car ride to old town or 10 minutes walk to historical sites.
The neighborhood is for the more adventurous travelers who don't mind a bit of walking and being in a less touristy area of Hanoi. If you're looking for the hotel/resort experience, then this is not it. It is rather an authentic experience of how a Vietnamese household is like and the things that we appreciate such as peace and quiet at home, nearby open space for morning runs and yummy breakfasts all around.

As true born and raised Hanoians, we do know all the spots to eat around the city and a food map/ guide book will be available to you at your check in time.

The home is equipped with A/C. We do not have a central heating system. Vietnam is a tropical country and it is rarely cold. We do have dual A/C heater units in 2 bedrooms and 2 mobile space heaters but if you're traveling with grandparents or young kids, please check the weather prior to booking.

Essentials such as cotton bedding, blankets, towels, toilet paper, shampoo and shower gel are provided for your convenience. Anything else that you may need can be purchased at nearby mini-marts.

There are two bathrooms with enclosed glass windows and three bathrooms with shutter french windows.

Please let us know if you want to use the piano 5 days in advance because we need to get it tuned. The weather in Vietnam is on the humid side and it will hinder the sound of the piano and it needs to be tuned beforehand. There is a 15$ tuning fee. The piano is usually locked since it is an expensive piece of instrument. We hope you understand.

Please check the amenities for further information.

A little about the house and the owners:

The house is a vintage 30 years old home that has been completely remodeled. The architecture is colonial french and the interior is eclectic, with the premise of each floor reflecting the lifestyle and aesthetic of the family members who live on that floor, while keeping things harmonious.
To a Vietnamese, there is nothing more important than family. You always come home for dinner, eat Grandma’s soup, get lectured by your Dad about life, get nagged by your Mom on when you’re going to get married and then after all of that, enjoy watching TV with your family over dessert. That is just how things go.

IIIGen home was built by a Vietnamese engineer married to a French scientist, with tall ceilings and big shutter windows, per the request of his significant other.

‘Lots of windows’ she said
‘Lots of windows she shall have’ he said.

The home reflects the progression of the family, expanding beyond its original plan. For example, once a courtyard then an indoor pool and now a dining hall, the home morphed and transformed as the need of the family changed. Grandparents live on the second floor, while grandkids were subjected to 3 flights of stairs. The plus is they get to be away from the adults, in their fun happy place. Mom and Dad live on the first floor, monitoring every attempted adolescent escapes. That’s where the name 3gen comes from, 3 generations living together harmoniously.

Well, we try!

We are a family owned business and the home was built by our parents, renovated by us - the kids 30 years later and we run the business ourselves and we do hope to provide you with the best experience and help you with anything that is within our reach.

We hope that you find staying at our home an unique experience, that you are relaxed and well rested while you’re in our care.

Welcome! Bienvenue! Xin chào!

If you want to experience the Village life, plan to wake up early - 5/6 am - IT IS A WORTHWHILE SIGHT! You wouldn't believe how many people are out exercising. Take a walk amongst the locals to the botanical garden or the Ho Chi Minh square to do some morning exercise and then have breakfast/ coffee like a local in nearby spots or in the local market. Recommendation will be in the House Manual - Food Map.

Ngoc Ha Village

Once a flower village, the residents had supplied the entire region of Hanoi with fresh cut blooms on the daily. As the city expanded and families grew, the flower fields were replaced by ‘match box’ homes, housing all generations from the toddlers to the elders. It is part of the culture to have a close relationship with your family members, taking care of the elders being one key element. The authority kept most of the historical structures such as the ‘Village Hall’ where villagers used to gather for announcements, nowadays used as a public space. One can often be seen relaxing on a bench in the courtyard - under that big old tree - or enjoying homemade snacks along with a sprinkle of gossip amidst your neighbors. During the Full Moon festival in autumn, the courtyard is dressed with colorful lanterns to host one of the most beloved Vietnamese holiday. To be in this village is to experience first hand of what it means to be a Hanoian.

Life in the village starts at dawn, a resident takes a short walk through the many secret shortcut alleyways to gather at the botanical garden or the Ho Chi Minh square just 5 minutes away to practice the morning exercises. Once done, it is followed by a stroll through the local market for the freshest groceries. You can leave your groceries with your favorite vendor while having a quick healthy breakfast at your neighborhood noodle shop amongst many other choices. It is common to shop while you eat as some vendors would drive by with their bicycles filled with goodies. Flowers anyone? The breakfast usually concludes with cafe sua da, a needed delicious boost for a busy day in the city. On this note, Ngoc Ha Village is also known for culinary gems, local mom and pop that passed down from one generation to the next. One can find many of the iconic Vietnamese dishes such as Pho, Bun Bo Hue, Bun Cha, Bun Rieu, Banh Cuon etc.. made with love and dedication in different corners of the neighborhood. Amongst these shops, Pho Goc Gao - located at the village gate - is particularly famous for its red wine beef stew Pho, a French influence on our beloved national dish.

Ngoc Ha Village is strategically located near all the historical sites such as the Ho Chi Minh mausoleum, the One Pillar Pagoda and the French District. With a scooter or car, it is 5 minutes from the infamous ‘West Lake’, 15 minutes from Old Quarter, rare to have such a neighborhood so central in the city. You can also walk to all these places, it may just take a bit longer. Another somewhat famous historical site in the village is the ‘B52 site’ - a pond that houses parts of the shot down B52 from the Vietnam War. You will often see foreign tourists wander around the village looking for this pond.

At the village’s gate, the chaos of the city can’t seem to penetrate. The moment you walk past those wooden doors, life slows down, simple things matter. Houses share walls, neighbors share snacks. It is a close knit community, full of anecdotes and history.

Welcome to the village!

PS: Again we have to warn our guests that this is not a hotel/resort experience. You will walk, you will wander, and you will be next to motorbikes going down the alleyways, but you will get to see the real Hanoi. And if you want to go to old town where all the shops are, it is only 15 minutes away.

Hello, My name is Nia and I am the owner of the home. The house was built by my father 30 years ago and it reflects our lifestyles from one generation to the next. Our family loves to travel and learn about different cultures. In turn, we wanted to use this opportunity to show friends from around the World how a Vietnamese home back in the day was like - with a garden and terrace - unlike the matchbox homes that we have everywhere in the city nowadays. My Dad was an engineer and my Mom was a scientist. Together they built our home where my brother and I grew up in. I studied Interior Design and Architecture in the US and we renovated the home ourselves in the year of 2018. This is very much a family's business. Please feel free to ask me any question about Hanoi and Vietnam in general. I would be glad to show you my city and my country with open heart. Looking forward to hosting you all. Nia
