Come stay in comfort in a newly renovated condo surrounded by cool Redwood Sequoias right in the heart of Silicon Valley. Easy access to highways (phone number hidden) a short commute to the tech companies or cruise to San Francisco or Monterey for fun.

Místo

Our condo is 2 stories with 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, fireplace, living room, dining room, kitchen & a laundry in the “basement”. We co-habit with 5 really sweet kitties, so we have new hardwood laminate flooring throughout the house, new oak stairs & new tile in some areas for easy cleaning & throw rugs are washed almost weekly. Fast WiFi throughout.

Our guest room is located on the 2nd floor & has a large window overlooking our deck where I grow herbs & flowers. Comfortable Queen-size bed with new sheets, pillows & comforter. Large closet & a laundry basket; 2 fold-up chairs & a 24" X 16" TV table (or two TV tables if you wish). A hair dryer is also provided in the room. Hopefully, you will like the chocolate treat that may appear on your pillow.

New bath towels (etc.); we provide soap, shampoo & conditioner. Guests will use a very clean bathroom that is used a little bit by one of us as well.

Our neighbors are quiet, mostly high tech white & blue collar professionals & very nice!

Přístup pro hosty

Bedroom, Bathroom (shared with other guest room), Kitchen (for light cooking or microwaving), Dining Room, Living Room, Laundry (full loads only, please!).
We welcome you to use amenities by request. Guests have access to the kitchen to cook or reheat food & can store food in one 4.4 cu. ft. mini-refrigerator shared by guests from both rooms. So far, most guests have not scheduled kitchen time or even made breakfast, tea or coffee. There are a lot of great breakfast & coffee places nearby, so I’m not surprised.

Vztahy s hosty

Most of our guests have been here for work-related trips, and have really appreciated the WiFi, the quiet neighborhood & the facilities. We may only see these guests once a day if at all, but love to chat if there’s time. Others are on leisure time, but are buzzing around the Bay Area having fun (I hope!). So far, no one’s used the kitchen much except to make tea.

I work and my daughter & her boyfriend will be at classes, studying, working or sleeping, so they are in & out daily but barely have time to say “Hi” to me.
The cats are banned from the guest room (keep the door to your room shut, please!), but are very sweet & even the shy one is becoming more friendly!

We appreciate "quiet hours" from about 9:30 pm - 6:30 am. No loud conversations / phone calls within that time range, please (it's a bit flexible)...sound carries throughout the house, but normal conversations should be fine.

Další věci, které stojí za zmínku

We do have 4 cats.
There are steps to get up to our front door from the street or visitor parking & the bedrooms are on the 2nd floor.
CHECK-IN TIME: On weekdays -except Fridays - check-in time is 5:00 pm or after (because I'm working, too), unless you contact me in advance to work something out for an earlier arrival. On Fridays I have a class in the evening, so the best arrival time is between 4:00-5:30 pm. On weekends, check-in can be about 3:00 pm, but I may be able to/usually can accommodate earlier or later times.
The important point is, I can flex the check-in time but: Please let me know what time you will arrive!

Cleanliness is really appreciated (including use & clean-up of the kitchen).
No smoking.
Clean, responsible, quiet professionals preferred. No guest privileges.

Parking in the Visitor's Parking is allowed during the day or to load / unload your vehicle. Closest parking is on the street (not our private drive), even to unload luggage.

Neighborhood is nice and peaceful. Apartment was clean except few pet dirts here and there. Shoes are not allowed hence, need to be careful while walking here and there in apartment to avoid cat's *. Stay was nice, description mentions 2.5 bath which is not true. You have shared access to one bathroom.

My description of my condo is completely accurate and in standard description of a home. There are 2.5 baths, one in my bedroom ("the Master Bathroom"), one shared one for guests, and the 1/2 bath downstairs that anyone can use. Cats are cats and occasionally yak .. 99% of this is downstairs, where the cats hang out, mostly, and is cleaned up as soon as possible after I notice it. But I can't if I'm at work or asleep. If I had a hairball in my tummy or throat, I'd yak, too!

Tl;dr - Solid value with few inconveniences General: My girlfriend and I stayed at Linda's home for about three months. I think the place is a solid value. We thought the location was perfect for both our jobs - I biked to Mountain View (~10 mins to my specific campus) and she drove to downtown San Jose (~20 mins). The location is near several other tech companies in the area and bus stops, too. The room is a perfect size for one person but can be a little small for two people. Although you have a shared bathroom, I did not find any problems sharing with other tenants. The area also has many food and grocery options nearby. Parking can be a little difficult since the street parking gets full around 7:00 PM every day - so plan for an average 3-5 min walk when parking. Concerns: My only few minor issues were the home organization, cat hairs, and a shoe policy. First, I could not find many comfortable places to relax or eat outside of the room, which was mainly due to the amount of clutter throughout the home. Second, and understandably, the four friendly cats made it difficult to not leave the home without any cat hairs. Lastly, the no-shoe policy could get rather bothersome at times when you are carrying a lot in your hands and can't put on/take off your shoes except for at the front door. Again, these were not major but just minor inconveniences at times. Host: Linda is a nice and accommodating host. She is also very excellent with communicating any issues/concerns.

Odpověď od Linda:
So, here's a "behind-the-scenes" look at what's going on: Yep, 4 Cats = 4 X the cat hair. But I do dry mop 3 - 5 times per week & often even vacuum, especially downstairs (main floor), and, near the cat litters, the same mopping 1 - 2X daily & always vacuum there daily, too. The couches are covered with CalKing sized blankets because they can be washed to remove the cat hair. I have found it very difficult to remove cat hair from furniture with a vacuum or a special sponge ... I also work, during the day, so this cleaning is a lot to do; I cannot afford maid service unless I charged a lot more (about $79 MORE per cleaning - that's what I paid for weekly maid service around 1995, so more now?- in addition to what I charge for the room). I do not have carpets, the floors are either hard-wood or tile - so the only "carpets" are throw rugs that I wash as soon as I notice they appear to be dirty or hairy... as often as weekly or every two weeks. I have spares, so any of them, even those in guest rooms, can be washed any time. I ALWAYS wash the carpet in the guest rooms between guests. Why no shoes? There is leeway in where you remove your shoes so that you can put your stuff down, for example, on the ottoman, then remove your shoes ... I never want anyone to be uncomfortable or struggle with this! It sounds like I was not clear about that. But why remove your shoes: When I first moved in here, there were wall-to-wall Berber carpets, including on the stairs, which quickly became a mess due to tracking from dirty shoes and spills on them. People walking in from the road outside, the garage or laundry room tracked car oil and laundry soap up the stairs - it was awful - a big BLACK track! Car oil, soap, detergents, fabric softener, mud from shoes & spills seep into the padding under the carpet & are impossible to clean up, then the tracking comes right back, within days, even after steam cleaning. Secondly, if you inadvertently step in some doggy doo or something outside that may be contaminated with fleas or anything, you can track it in to my house and infect my cats. When the gardeners are here or it rains, people have tracked cut grass &/or mud in. This has all happened - we've gotten mud & grass tracked up the stairs, down the hall & into guest rooms (by a guest, that is) & my cats got fleas in the past when people have visited others with pets and returned here. It's so much easier to avoid messes by removing our shoes than to clean up afterwards ... And we DO treat the cats with flea meds on a regular basis, just in case. But why should they suffer due to fleas getting tracked into the house? Lastly, it's so much easier to keep the house clean if shoes are not worn inside, and also my beautiful hardwood floors do not get scuffed or scratched by hard heels or pebbles stuck on the bottom of sneakers. The hardwood on the floors and stairs cost over $25,000 to install just 2.5 years ago. I don't want my investment ruined. Smells? All homes have odors .... If someone cooks something and it burns, it smells. That happens. I try to train the cook(s). ;>) (Could be me, I'm a really lousy cook!) Yes cat food has an odor (especially their tuna / fish, which smells exactly like the canned tuna or sardines that people eat, and to the same degree / strength) and they are mammals, they may create volatile odors when using the litter. While I do my best to keep litters clean by scooping daily, I can't follow them around all day and clean up every time they create an odor which would be the ONLY way to reduce odors from litter use to nearly zero. The litters can't be outside (HOA rules and other problems). Most of the time there is no odor or very little odor from the litters. Dry cat food reduces odors but is very hard on their kidneys if they don't drink enough water per the vet ... & they can die, so we use both canned & dry cat food.

Linda is a good host and her place is conveniently located. The room, though small was comfortable and quiet. You share a bathroom with another guest in an adjacent room. Parking - on the street - especially late in the evening, is hard to find. Don't book there if you do not like cats or their odours.
