Looking for a uniquely different experience? Ville d’ Arlene is probably the most interesting house, located in one of San Diego’s most desirable neighborhoods for shopping, dining, and entertainment. The house is easy walking distance to everything in Normal Heights. The house is colorful and fun inside and out, and loaded with games, puzzles, books, art supplies, bikes, beach gear. You’ll enjoy being where the local’s go, and is only a 10-15 minute drive to most major attractions. & downtown.

Ville d’ Arlene is a 2BR Craftsman bungalow, built in the late 1930's with an excellent floorplan (about 1000 sq. ft.), with 2 bedrooms/separated by a large bathroom with a tub/shower combo, in original green porcelain and pink-retro tiles.

1) The GREEN ROOM: This room decorated with an Asian flair, from a few of our travels to the East. This room has a comfortable queen-size bed, 2 windows: one facing the street, the other on the driveway side (private-no one accesses that side but Ville d’ Arlene guests). There's a small walk-in closet, and 2 doors: one to the living room/one to the hallway/bathroom.

2) The RED ROOM: Inspired by Frida Kahlo: This room
Is decorated with a Latin flair, kinda like an old, upscale south-of-the-border bordello.
This room has a king-size, new memory-foam bed, with soft mattress topper.
One window faces the driveway/the other overlooks the back porch. Plenty of closet space.

3) The LIVING/DINING ROOM: There is a 16,000 btu AC with remote in the LR, and a gas heater the heats the front and back rooms at the same time. These areas are joined into one large room. Through the front door, you enter the living room, and the dining area (a built-in Craftsman cabinets) is straight ahead on the right end of the room, just before the kitchen

4) The KITCHEN: is in the rear of the house, with a back door to the patio (the patio has an additional security door which exits to the back area). The kitchen has a double-stainless steel sink with double windows overlooking the beautiful courtyard /patio dining area, a full-size gas range-stove, and a large refrigerator (with filtered water and complimentary beverages/coffee/snacks for guests). The kitchen is fully stocked with cooking pots/pans/dishes/utensils/toaster/multiple coffee makers with coffee/microwave/slow cooker/old-fashioned juice press/cuisenart.

5) The AMAZING FRONT PORCH:
The large, covered front porch spans the entire width of the house. On one side are comfy Adirondack-stye chairs/on the other side: bistro-style table and 2 chairs (perfect for dining or working on your laptop—
We’ve installed outlets on both sides of the porch with 4 USB ports —extra available while they last.

6) OUTDOOR PATIO / BBQ Area: On the right of the house is a courtyard with a Mexican-times cement dining table with sun umbrella/lush landscaping/potted & hanging plants/gas and small charcoal BBQ/ string lights & solar lanterns that light up every night at dusk. The trash bins are nearly ticked and semi-hidden between the patio fencing.

7) COVERED BACK PORCH-(back of house through the back kitchen door): Here you have -yet another—dining table and chairs. This spot is absolutely perfect for enjoying plen-aire breakfast, as the morning sun rises from that vantage point. The back houses are visible from the back porch, so we’ve added sheer privacy curtains, which can be pulled aside to enjoy the early sunshine, or drawn for privacy. Most of the time, the back-cottage residents use the back gate to enter /there is alley access to the property.
The back porch is also fully covered, it's screened in for big protection (not a huge problem in San Diego though). A lot of the art supplies are stored on the back porch, and beach/yoga gear is there as well.

8) PARKING/DRIVEWAY
Since the whole front house is yours, you get the whole front yard, and exclusive use of the driveway on the left. You can park tandem if you’re planning on having more than one car, or have a guest popping by.
NOTE: if you do not need parking during your stay (if you’re Ubering /using public transportation) -please let us know. If another guest can use the parking spot, you could be eligible for a gift card to a local cafe (if your spot accommodates another guest during their stay) . Please communicate your transportation plans upon registering with us.

9) GARAGE: FREE washer & dryer, light storage available in the garage, 4 bicycles for guests with lock.
Garage is also keyless entry.

You will have the front house, and most of the areas on the property are exclusively for Casa Arlena guest: Patio /BBQ area is where you may bump into one of the other guests/residents/or if you’re lucky, a host or cohost on rare occasion ;).

You get the whole 2 BR front house, the front yard, the driveway (where you can park 2 cars, tandem style), You have the back-covered porch, a shared courtyard/BBQ area (rarely occupied by other guests). The “chill spot” —I.e. the front porch. The covered back porch with a security gate and dining table for up to 4, the garage is shared-in there are bikes, laundry machines (coming soon), beach gear , lots of stuff -probably too much ;). And you get the neighborhood - Normal Heights! It is all yours—the most welcoming neighborhood you’ll ever visit (in SoCal at least :D)

Please Note: Our base cleaning fee does not cover longer term occupancy, nor does it cover pet cleaning. If you're staying longer than 14 days, the cleaning fee may increase, as the scope of cleaning work increases.

Cleaning fees may vary: Depending upon group size, length of stay, number of pets, and pet breeds. Our place is cleaned by professionals, and is very sanitary. This cannot be accomplished without deep cleaning after guests stay for a lengthy term, unless the fee increases.
If you’re staying a month or longer, the fee rates will be provided to you upon booking.

PETS: Tell us about your pets, and read our pet policy and additional cleaning fee for pets. Fees may range from $45 and up, depending on size, breed, number of animals, etc. if we feel your pet is not a good fit for the place, we reserve the right to decline your reservation.

GUEST OCCUPANCY: All guests must be disclosed and registered.
Our rates reflect double occupancy. If your group is double that size, there will be an additional nightly fee per person. We ask that you be honest, respectful, and take excellent care of the house and everything we offer you.

Ville did Arlene will not accommodate more than 4 guests without extra sleeping arrangements made prior to your arrival. The antique couch in the living room is NOT to be used as an additional bed for extra guests.

Extra Guests can be accommodated with air or floor mattresses, but all guests must be registered and are subject to an additional nightly rate, per guest. We do not appreciate finding extra guests have been invited without being permitted by us first. We will be happy to provide extra linens /towels/provisions for additional guests. If the bed isn’t made properly—don’t use it. We are t ok with people sleeping on couches or beds that have not been properly made up.

PETS: We expect guests to be mindful of their pets to ensure that there is no damage to the furniture or area rugs. Crates, gates, cat-scratching posts are available in the garage for all guests to use whenever needed.
Before you make your reservation, we need to know more about your pets to make sure it’s a good fit for the place. State the breed, size and number of animals you plan to bring with you. We may decline requests that we are not comfortable with. We have very nice rugs, floors and furniture. If you’re pet is not house trained, we expect you to take all the precautions necessary to ensure that our property is respected and kept in good condition.
We reserve the right to add an extra cleaning deposit, depending upon what we feel is necessary.

Cleaning your own dishes /removing your own trash / and tidying up is required upon checkout.

If you're traveling with a larger group, and need extra accommodation, we can offer the LOFT house, which is another Airbnb rental cottage directly behind your place. The LOFT is an open floor plan with a loft above the bathroom. The Loft sleeps up to 4 people; a great way to keep your group close without being on top of each other :)

There are 4 cottages behind your house. Everyone has their own space, but the side courtyard is a shared area. Since you're in the front house, you basically have all the best areas to use privately: The front porch, the left side of the house all the way to the garage, the front yard, and the covered patio in back, and the patio dining area on the right side of the house.

Normal Heights is, by far, one of the coolest neighborhoods San Diego has to offer. Everyone knows "ab"Normal Heights, and if they could, they'd move here in a heartbeat. We have the best pubs, breweries, coffee shops, eateries, cafes, a bakery, an off-leash dog park within a 5-minute walk (one of the very few in San Diego), and if you like Asian cuisine, we have it all: 2 Ramen Noodle houses/sushi/organic, vegetarian Thai-food joint, and a 5-star Thai restaurant where you can get real food ;). We have so many Vietnamese places, I can't even count. Our neighborhood is so special, people have written odes about it. Since our place is North of Adam.s Avenue, you can walk /ride a bike an entire mile around East Mountain View street without even hitting more than one stop sign. It's like a continuous arch-shaped street that runs atop the entire Mission-Valley canyon ridge. For that reason, I offer free bikes in the garage for you to use: 2 mountain bikes, one beach cruiser.
