This is a wonderful room, bright, clear, and good energy. It is homey and comfortable, a great place to relax, breathe deeper, and enjoy the bright blue day and starry night skies. The room has a queen size bed (Serta perfect sleeper-firm with a foam topper), a futon couch, an oak butcher block dining table and chairs, an electric teapot, mugs, a selection of gourmet and herb teas, and Simple Life organic instant coffee, dry milk and stevia packets (I’m a wholistic health practitioner, I just could not bring myself to buy the artificial dry creamer, but you are welcome to bring your own fixings). Many windows fill the room with lots of beautiful, natural light. Passive solar energy concepts have been used to moderate temperatures. Bamboo shades, thermal curtains and a shaded area on the west side of the guesthouse help keep the temperature inside and out more pleasant during the summer heat. There is a ceiling fan in case you need more air flow and cooling in the summer. Sunlight infuses and warms the room in the winter, in addition to propane gas and electric heaters. The floors are ceramic tile. The bathroom includes a shower stall and a closet.
There are patio tables and chairs outside and a BBQ grill, the kind that needs your briquettes and lighter fluid. Every effort has been made to provide a healthy and healing environment for you, including all natural, non-toxic cleaning products.

Please note that I now require a 2 day minimum reservation and my cancellation policy has changed from flexible to moderate.
It is easy to find my home with my detailed and correct directions with you. US 285 is a 2 lane, rural, unlit road with no commercial businesses within 4 miles. Especially in the winter when it gets dark early, you will have to pay attention to mile markers to exit hwy correctly.
My house, the guesthouse and barn are located on 4 acres of private land with a view of bluffs and mesas that rise in the distance. It is private, laid back, fairly quiet except for the sounds of coyotes, frogs, insects, the 2 lane highway that gets you here, and neighbors’ cows and dogs, depending on the season, and all beyond my control.
You can walk to the river, although the fields are overgrown with weeds presently. Depending on snow and rainfall, and irrigation, the fields can sometimes be muddy, have standing water in the spring. My vegetable and flower gardens around the casita are messy and sometimes productive.
Cell phone reception is spotty here, although 4 miles north near the Springs, there is reception. There is an old box TV and a satellite receiver. Recently the wifi has been upgraded to high speed internet. A new router extender has been installed. While we supposedly have high speed internet, it is not as fast and strong as what can be provided in cities, and not what you may be accustomed to.
Please let me know before you reserve if you are bringing a pet. There will be an extra fee of approx. $10. Dogs must be walked on a leash near house and flower and veggie gardens. Please supervise dogs on property and clean up after them. For animals that are allowed on furniture, we cover couches and beds with sheets that are easy to clean after you depart. I have tried to make my space available, safe, healthy and affordable for guests travelling both without and with pets.

This is your vacation, your special time. I am sure that you have your own plans to relax and enjoy.
I enjoy meeting new people, and having guests. It is important to me that you are comfortable and content in my home. However I work alot so I may not be here to greet you when you arrive because I usually arrive home from work after 8 pm. You will find the front door locked and you will have the code to unlock it once you reserve your space.
I will try to be available to you if you have a problem or need anything.

Ojo Caliente is the place to stay for a relaxing spa or family holiday, and a quiet healing retreat. This Vacation Rental resides in the village of Ojo Caliente whose name means ‘hot eye’ referring to our natural hot springs. Our hot springs have become a world class spa and resort drawing people from around the world. If you are going to the springs, bring extra towels and a lock, because these things cost extra at the Ojo spa.
Lots of good hiking in Ojo, other activities, events, concerts, gatherings close by for you to research.
We are five miles and 5 minutes south of the Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs Resort and Spa. We are centrally located between Santa Fe, Taos, Los Alamos and Georgia O’Keefe country, all approx. a 1 hour drive. The Abiquiu art community, Espanola, Oke Oweenge (San Juan Pueblo) are a half hour drive. The eight northern pueblos (the communities of native people, Pueblo Indians) are located along the Rio Grande River between Santa Fe and Taos. The town of Ojo Caliente has 5 restaurants and cafe/snack bars, a cash machine, a local gas station/grocery store (not open 7/11), and gift shops. There are several places in town that offer use of their internet service.
For locals, Ojo is a small, rural, ranching and agricultural village in northern New Mexico. Northern New Mexico is a high desert with very dynamic weather that changes with the time of day and by the minute. In Ojo, we are about 6,500’ above sea level. Generally the skies are clear. In winter the nights are very cold and the days are moderate. Summer is hot, usually not too hot, and nights are cool and fresh. Because of this, it is unusual to have air conditioning except in motels and mobile homes. Those of us who live here have gotten used to the whims of nature and technology. I hope you will too.
We make our space available to both those with and without pets. Please let me know before you reserve if you are bringing a pet. The set-up and clean-up for pet guests are more extensive and assure all guests a clean and healthy environment. There will be an extra fee of $10 per dog per day.
When we have pet guests, we cover couches and beds with sheets that are easy to clean after you depart. Please walk dogs on a leash near house, flower and veggie gardens. Please supervise dogs on property and clean up after them. I provide a pooper scooper & dedicated poop bucket, also poop bags.
I have tried to make my space available, safe, healthy and affordable for guests travelling both without and with pets.
Families with children (who are directly supervised) are welcome. There are natural dangers in our environment. Let's talk about your needs before you make a reservation.
Please bring your own towels to use at the hot springs. Mine are for use within guesthouse.
No indoor cooking, only electric teapot and coffee maker.
No smoking in guesthouse, and on property, we are in a severe drought.
Please dress properly (proper shoes, long pants) to walk the property, because of stickers, snakes and other natural dangers.
One night accommodation is possible for $125 by making an "INQUIRY". That will cover the cleaning costs. I will adjust the price and minimum stay, offer that to you, then you make a "Reservation Request".

I came to live in Ojo Caliente, NM after completing acupuncture college and becoming a Doctor of Oriental Medicine after many years of traveling and living in Mexico with indigenous communities, and being a Shiatsu (Japanese massage).
I am an Italian American born in Brooklyn, NY. Always had a garden and wanted to live where I could grow my own corn. Still not growing corn, but some greens, herbs, flowers and fruit.
As a person who has traveled, I value practicality and good energy and light, and not a theme park. And that is what I have created in the apartment space adjoining my home.
I work a lot. I work doing acupuncture, etc in a substance abuse program, and a private office in Espanola. I have my own private practice here.
Creating a healing practice and environment, healthy food and people, althernative medicine, opera, salsa and world music are my passions.
