The location, above a small, secluded bay, is ideal. The water during our ten day stay in June was almost perfectly calm and clear, even while the beaches at Argeles-sur-mer were being battered by easterly winds. As it is a pebbly beach, it was invariably uncrowded and often empty. The apartment was comfortable and cool, since (surprisingly) it faces north. Early mornings and evenings were a real pleasure, sat by the picture window, and cooking in the well-equipped kitchen felt like cooking at home. (One thing I'd note is that the ceiling fan is a little risky for anyone over 6' tall!) Port Vendres is a five minute walk down the hill, and is a beautiful place in its own right (great for fresh fish); Collioure is a hot walk along the winding main road (20-30 minutes), though an average swimmer could probably swim there at a leisurely pace in a similar amount of time - from the mouth of the bay, it's really very close. The apartment block is tucked behind a convenient Lidl, and has its own car park (each flat has a specific space). We'd certainly come back here - there's little to fault, and Roussillon has so much to offer (most of it within an hour of the flat). A truly relaxing ten days.
