Our lovely cottage is hidden in the lovely medieval center of Semur-en-Auxois, right on the banks of the Armancon River and a five-minute walk from the shops, galleries, cafes and church of the town center. With two full bedrooms and a bath-and-a-half, the two-story house includes a beautiful garden with fruit trees and a croquet-sized lawn, a very private garden-encircled patio backed by granite walls, and a fabulous view, day and night, of the town ramparts and towers.
Downstairs you will find a cozy living/dining room with a fully remodeled kitchen which opens on to the terrace and garden. Upstairs the loft-like living room under exposed beams contains couches for even more guests, a wood-burning fireplace stove and windows with views on the garden and ancient town. The second bedroom and bath upstairs has its own private entrance as well. The house has a TV, sound systems and full WIFI.
The immediate region abounds with hiking and biking opportunities; a swimming lake is a short drive or bike ride away and the Burgundy Canal and dozens if idyllic villages are all nearby. A half-hour drive takes you to Beaune and wine country.
This is an old house with new amenities (fully remodeled kitchen in 2012 and washer dryer). We hope you care for it and enjoy it.

Two friends and I fell in love with this house and its environs with its spectacular views and easy walking access to a beautifully preserved medieval town. I live in Paris and take personal care of the house, which is my pride and joy. We have hosted dozens of happy guests since buying the house nearly a decade ago. My work as a National Public Radio correspondent takes me all over France and this spot remains one of the most special I have found.
