Seashell Cottage is a 2 min drive from the beach (Chelton Beach Provincial Park), 15 minutes from the Confederation Bridge, and 15 minutes from the City of Summerside.
Wake up to fresh ocean breezes and a view of red island fields in this pretty, beach-themed cottage. The bedrooms have brand-new mattresses and linens.
Please read the whole listing & house rules before booking & make sure your profile pic shows your face.
There are antiques and art in every room! The headboards are made with doors from a 150-year-old island house. Each room has an antique dresser and chair and a wardrobe that has been painted by an island artist. There are vintage teacups in the kitchen for you to use and lots of fun decor like a moose antler, paintings, and beautiful seashells.
The kitchen is small, but well-stocked. It has vintage art-deco cabinetry with a pull-out counter and unique decor that you'll find yourself photographing. Amenities include a two-burner stove/fridge/sink combo, a modern coffee machine, microwave, pots, and utensils. We also supply tea and coffee and a continental breakfast, which includes baked goods, preserves, juice, and fruit.
Off the kitchen is a private deck with a view of the organic garden. The deck has soft, cushioned seats that soak the stress out of your body. This is a great place to share a glass of wine, play a round of cards, or listen to the robins sing you to sleep.
We only use natural, unscented, biodegradable cleaning products so you can breath easier.
There is a relaxing nook with a Victorian-era love seat where you can plan your day with a cup of tea. The coffee table is filled with shells and some of Prince Edward Island's famous singing sand.
The bathroom is fresh and clean and has a new shower, toilet, and vanity.
We offer free wifi, free parking, and a private entrance.
There are lots of nearby quiet dirt roads for walking or cycling. We are very near a mill pond and river where you can kayak or canoe.
This property is one half of a duplex cottage. The owners live in the other half.
During summer, there is a small ice cream stand and gift shop located on the property where you can buy a cool treat and pick up a souvenir.
Your private deck overlooks the organic gardens. There are lots of songbirds here as well as a few little red squirrels. The squirrels' ringleader is a charismatic fellow named Timmy. You can usually spot Timmy drinking from the pond or stealing strawberries. Sometimes at night, you will hear a fox bark or see a raccoon mosey through the vegetable patch. If you are used to city living with lots of bright lights at night, get ready to see the majesty of the stars. We suggest downloading a free app to help you identify constellations.
Sorry, but we are unable to accommodate special diets. Any special dietary needs must be addressed solely by the guest.
NO PARTYING. This is a quiet place. Quiet hours are from 10pm to 7am. We do not tolerate drunkenness or illegal drug use. No entertaining, family reunions, loud music, etc. We recognize that recreational cannabis is now legal in Canada but we do not allow it on our property.
Max occupancy is 4 adults or parents with 2 children. NO EXTRA GUESTS. We are legally unable to accommodate camping – this includes extra guests sleeping in their cars outside.
Guests must have a profile photo that shows their face and provide a full name. We are unable to accommodate third-party bookings.
Health and Safety
No smoking of any kind on the property. Please do not go onto our neighbours' land to smoke.
No open flames, candles, incense, sage, space heaters, bbqs, or bonfires.
For the health and safety of our own pets and poultry, absolutely NO PETS, animals, or non-human guests are allowed. Also, Mary is severely allergic to dogs and we can not have one on the property.
Minors may not be left unattended. If you have children traveling with you, they must be supervised at all times by their parents, not us. Please don’t let your kids slam doors, run in the hall, jump on the beds, yell, play in our neighbours’ yards, or break our stuff. Please help your children observe our quiet hours. If you hire a local babysitter, the children must be babysat elsewhere.
Please do not cook lobster or shellfish as the smell is so strong that it makes it impossible to rent the cottage to other people for days, which means we lose hundreds of dollars.
Please do not sunbathe nude or in your underwear. Please do not walk around naked in front of us. Yes, this actually happens.
Note: The photographs are accurate and show every part of the cottage. What you see is what it is.
Note: Check in is from 3-8pm. Sorry, but we are not able to accommodate early check-ins or luggage drop-off. Late check-ins will be billed an additional $20 for each hour after 8pm as someone will be waiting around to greet you.
This is a rural community where you can get a firsthand look at island agriculture. We are surrounded by meadows of grain crops and fields of famous PEI potatoes. Nearby are cattle and horses, which you will likely see as you explore the area. The roads are lined in wild roses, spruce trees, and many beautiful wildflowers. There are no big box stores here but we are only 12 minutes from the City of Summerside where you can buy pretty much anything. There is an ice cream stand on our property so you can stop for a cool treat. The stand also sells gifts and some local produce (seasonal availability only) so you can pick up something tasty.
Chelton Beach Provincial Park (pronounced shell-ton) is very close and is a popular spot for both tourists and locals. It is attended by lifeguards. Kids find friends to play with and adults enjoy the fresh salty air and peace of the breaking waves.
This community is a great place to get away from the heavy city traffic... in fact, you may find the local drivers are a bit slow compared to what you're used to. The pace of life here is relaxing and the people are friendly... let rural PEI soak into your soul and you'll always want to come back.
