Welcome to Harper’s Haven! Located in a quiet neighborhood on a dead-end street where the kids can ride bikes and play games. Extended driveway has room for off street parking for your family cars (4 car maximum). One mile to quaint downtown Bemus Point for restaurants, nightlife, shops, playground, golf course, gas station (propane fill up), wine/liquor and grocery store. Property has emergency maintenance service, and professional housekeeping prior to your check in. Electronic keyless entry (code will be emailed prior to stay) for self-check-in to provide expedited house access. This is a smoke free property.
For 2020, there is a 3-night minimum May 1st to June 12th and September 15th to November 30th. June 13th to September 5th are 7-day rentals (Saturday 3pm to Saturday 10am). Total occupancy 10 (Maximum 8 Adults, 2 Children)
Beds & Bath
4 bedrooms upstairs- Queen Master, Queen, Full and Full with Twin Upper Bunk (bunk is perfect for child or teen, might be tight for adult). In addition, 1st floor game room has a curtained area with a brand-new full-size futon. All bedrooms have beautiful lake views and multiple windows. Being on a peninsula, the lake provides wonderful cool breezes throughout the house. All bedrooms have ceiling fans and for hot summer nights there are portable A/C units available if desired. Each bedroom includes high quality newer mattresses and mattress covers. Each bed has comfy sheets, 4 new pillows, light weight blankets and quilts for those chilly evenings.
1st floor bathroom has been completely remodeled with a stand-up shower and full-size washer and dryer. 2nd floor Bathroom has full bathtub and shower. Each bathroom is equipped with bath towels and washcloths for each guest. Toilet Paper, hand towels and kitchen towels are also provided.
Spacious Living Areas
Large Family Room -complete with cable TV, DVD player and HDMI cable hook up to connect to your Apple device. Plenty of family DVD’s and books to enjoy for those family movie nights or rainy days. The cottage has WIFI throughout.
Bar and Game Room- Sit at the bar overlooking the lake and enjoy your morning coffee or favorite wine and cocktails. The bar is complete with a wine frig and stocked with plenty of glassware. Stereo has headphone jack and Apple lightning connector for you to play your favorite devices inside and out. Front room has a multi-use Game Table that can be easily slid to the middle of the room to play Bumper pool or flip the top to a poker table. The cottage has lots of family games, puzzles, cards, poker chips and accessories.
Kitchen and Dining
Large eat-in kitchen complete with table that seats 8 plus counter stool area. Large refrigerator with in-door filtered water and ice. A fully stocked kitchen that includes gas stove, dishwasher, microwave, toaster oven, traditional and single cup (Keurig) coffee maker, Crock Pot, popcorn maker, electric wine opener, mixer, pots & pans, indoor and outdoor cooking utensils, a variety of spices, bakeware and more. The rental also includes dishwasher detergent pods and dish soap.
NOTE: IMPORTANT- the yard is fenced on 3 sides to eliminate children and pets from getting to the street, however there is unfenced direct access to the creek. Children and pets should never be left unsupervised.
Covered back porch and patio have comfortable seating and two outdoor dining tables. Enjoy the sunrise on one side of the house and the sunset on the other. There is a gas and a charcoal grill for your use, porch swing, outdoor speakers and fun porch lighting. There are also baby/pet gates that can be hooked across the porch steps. These gates are only secured by hooks and are meant to slow down but will not stop a jumping dog or smart toddler.
The grass back yard overlooking the creek and lake is big enough for your lawn games. Included for your use are Cornhole, Ladder ball, KanJam, horseshoes, assorted mitts, balls, bats, frisbees etc.
Don’t forget to pick up some wood on your way in (there are many local roadside vendors that sell firewood) and make yourself comfortable in the Adirondack chairs that surround the fire pit overlooking the water. A nightly campfire is a perfect end to your vacation day.
The property includes a ramp into the shallow creek with direct access to the lake, that is perfect for your Kayaks, Canoes or Paddleboards. Easy access to the ramp from the street allows room to back up your trailer or vehicle directly into the back yard. For deeper draw boats or jet skis, there are many local launch sites and marinas on the lake.
The closest is only a mile away in Bemus Point. It is a public boat launch, hard ramp surface with no fees, and a large public parking lot with space for 30 cars/trailers. Not recommended for boats over 16 feet and no overnight parking.
To complete your family vacation, well-mannered dogs are always welcome (MAX - (2) 60 lb. dogs). If you plan on leaving the dog(s) unattended in the cottage you will need to crate them. We have a large dog crate (42"x 28"x 30") stored in the garage that is available for you to use. Please keep your pets off the furniture and beds. For the health and safety of our guests, dog owners are responsible for cleaning up dog waste.

Take a walk (1.1 Mile) or quick drive to the many unique shops located along Main Street. The Village market, Pizza Shoppe, The See Zurh House, The Fish (formerly the Italian Fisherman), Coppolas and Ellicottville Brewing are located in the center of the Village. Located near the historic ferry landing, The Village Casino (while not a real casino), is a restaurant serving lunch and dinner with late night entertainment on the weekends. The Bemus Point Golf Club and Tap House features a 9-hole golf course with a restaurant/tap house inside. Have some dinner, do some shopping, grab an ice-cream cone, and wander the Village while enjoying the view of Chautauqua Lake. If you're lucky, you'll catch an amazing sunset during your visit!
Less than a 15-minute drive to this Victorian village which is a nonprofit education center and summer resort for adults and youth. The “Institute” features a 9-week summer season where music, dance, opera, theater and the visual arts create the "Chautauqua Mix."
Over the bridge and 15 minutes away you can reach the Village of Lakewood. It's community amenities include a public beach, parks and playgrounds, a library, a farmer’s market, lighted tennis courts, pickleball courts, baseball fields, boat launches, and a community sailing facility. You will also find a Walmart, Home Depot, The Chautauqua Mall, Wegmans, Movie theatre, Mini golf, ice cream parlors, Tim Hortons, Starbucks and much more.
Long Point State Park
For the best beach and swimming facility take a 5 minute ride and spend the day at Long Point State Park. This 320 acre day-use park, (no camping) with swimming beach & bathhouse, hiking, biking, reserve-able picnic pavilions, public boat launch and marina with restaurant, marine supplies and gas docks.
Midway State Park
A 10-minute drive to Maple Springs you will find Midway State Park. Today, it is recognized as the fifteenth-oldest continually operating amusement park in the United States. Patrons can take a nostalgic ride on the vintage carousel, play a game of mini golf, test your skills at classic midway games, take a spin on the tilt-a whirl and ride the go-karts or watch their children enjoy themselves on the many kiddie rides.
While at the cottage, plan on a day in Jamestown. You will find the National Comedy Center, the Lucy Desi Museum, beautifully restored theaters, and a wide variety of entertainment, food, and shopping options in Lucille Ball’s Hometown.
Wine, Beer and Spirits
While on vacation, experience Lake Erie Wine Country (formerly known as the Chautauqua-Lake Erie Wine Trail). The Wine Trail is about 40 miles long and runs amidst 30,000 acres of vineyards along Lake Erie in western New York and Pennsylvania in “America’s Grape Country”.
Also plan a craft brewery and distillery tour of the Chautauqua-Lake Erie Region, where new developments along this unofficial “brew and spirits trail” are happening all the time. Among others, visit the original Southern Tier Brewing Company in Lakewood, one of the largest craft-makers in the United States and the Ellicottville Brewing Company in Bemus Point.
