Guest reviews:- "Beautiful house in an even more beautiful location." "Ty'r Olchon could not have been better. Beautiful location for peace and quiet, and lovely walks along the river, through the valleys, fields, and forests. The house was perfect - cosy, warm, stylish and the home cinema was an extra treat for down time." "This place is a hidden gem, wow what a find. I took my family of 10 adults here for my partners surprise 40th Birthday and we had the most amazing time. Both the house and the cottage are spacious, clean and well finished. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need and the table sat 10 adults very comfortably." "Stunning location, beautiful house with excellent BBQ area for summer, and huge log burner for winter! : guest review December 2017 "Beautiful very well equipped home We had an amazing time. Mesmerising views . Entertainment lounge with log burner cinema system and games . Superb kitchen with an Aga . Pleasure for those who enjoy cooking." : guest review October 2017 "Had the most fabulous week here in October. Incredibly cosy getaway. All creature comforts are present in the house. Awesome views across the valley! Hygge time!" "House and location are quite simply stunning. Can't fault this place. The local walks are magnificent" " "Amazing house and location for a family weekend away. The house was comfortable and warm and had everything we needed to cook with. The log burner kept us really toasty in the evenings whilst watching films on the home cinema set up. We walked from the house on the public footpath with dog and 4 week old baby in a sling across the fields into Longtown, stopped at the pub for a drink, and the shop for supplies and walked back via the road. We also headed over to the other side of the valley to explore the landscape, less than 10 minute drive and then on foot again up the mountain. Very relaxed. The views are amazing." "A beautiful house tucked away in a peaceful and scenic situation. No noise or light pollution made this a very relaxing location. The wood burner was very welcome on a cold January weekend, as was the Aga, meaning the house was always very pleasantly warm and cosy."
This is a relatively undiscovered part of the UK with beautiful countryside, but with easy access to excellent restaurants and pubs, and culture and retail therapy in the book town of Hay-on-Wye and Abergavenny. Longtown village with its well-provisioned shop, post office and pub is five minutes drive away. Within 25 minutes drive are the Walnut Tree & Hardwick restaurants offering high quality cuisine in relaxed settings - book in advance! The magical Llanthony Abbey is in the next valley. The historic Marches towns of Ludlow, Ross-on-Wye, Ledbury and Hereford are within easy travelling distance. SOME OF THE LOCAL SITES OF INTEREST: Llanveynoe Church - 15 minute walk along the lane or through the fields and along the public footpath. Longtown Castle - in the middle of the village. Llanthony Priory & Cwmyoy Church - both in the next valley to the west of the cottage - a must when you are so near. St. Margaret's Church, 15 minute drive - very beautiful medieval church with a wonderful carved Rood Screen. Abbey Dore Church and Monastery - 20 minute drive. Red Daren/Offa's Dyke - directly opposite the house :- Drive for 10 minutes along the Mountain Road (the one you were told not to take just before you first arrived), over the river and up and over the cattle grid into the National Park - until you reach the parking place directly opposite the house. Within a few hundred yards before, and only a few yards after the parking place, there are two public footpaths leading up the mountain. The first is easier and will take you towards Llanthony Priory, the second is steeper and will take you in the direction of Hay Bluff. Cat's Back/Black Hill : quickest way to the top of the ridge and great views - 10 minute drive to the car park at the bottom of the Hill. Abergavenny - nearest market town (with a Waitrose, Aldi, Morrison, and Tesco), 25 minute drive on the route to Cardiff (which is only an hour away, traffic permitting, if you would like to spend some time in a surprisingly great little city). Hay on Wye - the book town - retail therapy, good food and pubs. The drive, from Ty'r Olchon to Hay-on Wye, taking the shortest route on the narrow road which climbs up to the highest point, gives stunning views and takes about 25 minutes. FOOD AND PROVISIONS Longtown Village:- Shop & Post Office; The Crown Inn Ewyas Harold Village, 15 minutes drive away has a well stocked village shop and post office, fish and chip shop, butcher selling very local fresh meat and good frozen fish, pub - The Dog; pub with restaurant - The Temple Bar. Lovely open plan with bedroom on mezzanine floor. Living room with log fire, kitchen area and wet room. Close to amenities shops, bars, restaurants - 7 minute walk down the hill. Also 5 minute walk from parkland with river access. Towels not inc.
We have a lovely converted barn available to rent for short and long stays. Adjacent to but detached from The Old School House [this sleeps 8 comfortably and is also available to rent - see separate entry], the cottage was originally the stables and barn for the headmaster and pupils of Lady Hawkins School (founded 1632) , it then later became the music room. We converted it in 2008 into a quiet self-contained open-plan living space, keeping the original beams and features, including the school bell tower. Inside the cottage is light and airy with white stone walls, oak floors, a Shaker-style kitchen area and galleried bedroom. The wood burner is fuel-efficient and keeps the whole place toasty when needed. The porch, where you can leave dirty shoes, wellies etc, opens into the kitchen-living room area. The kitchen has a Belfast sink, wooden worktop, electric hob, microwave, toaster, fridge. The beamed, high ceiling living room area has the wood burner, oak table and seating, sofa, double sofa bed, chair, coffee table, lamps, bookshelf and books. Also on the ground floor is the tiled wet-room with shower, W.C and basin. Painted wooden stairs lead up to the open-plan galleried bedroom with southerly views across the Arrow Valley. Divided by a cross-beam into two sleeping areas, there is one with a low level double bed and the other with two single futons suitable for children but could be used by adults. All bedlinen (100% cotton) is provided. Digital TV & DVD, radio and broadband connection is provided. A folder of information about what to see and do in the local area is also provided. We provide guests with complimentary tea, coffee, sugar and milk. 1 basket of logs is provided for the wood-burner sep-mar otherwise logs are available to purchase at a reasonable price. The price is for up to two people for the property per night, minimum two nights. Weekly rates (from £325) and stays of more than two nights are discounted - please contact us. Note on accessibility: there are two stone and rather uneven steps up to the porch of the cottage. Upstairs to the sleeping area is accessed via a short but fairly steep, curved wooden staircase. Guests have off-road parking for one vehicle in front of the cottage. When the main house is not occupied you are welcome to explore and chill-out in the large garden which has plenty of outdoor seating. Aud, who lives nearby and manages The Cottage for us while we are away, is always welcoming and ready to assist or answer queries but she assumes most guests prefer to be left in peace. So, interaction is minimal unless you want it to be more, in which case don't hesitate to contact her. Kington (population 2,500 or thereabouts) is a genuinely unspoiled and unpretentious historic market town on the English-Welsh border. Our 12 year old son, who currently lives in Nairobi, describes it as, 'fun, friendly and safe'! Until the 1960s it was a major hub for sheep and cattle drovers (the main street and medieval alleyways with their high burgage walls are visible remnants of this former life) and it still serves what is a largely rural farming community and it has retained a weekly livestock market (Thursdays). But nowadays visitors come all year round and Kington provides a welcome and down-to-earth escape from urban and city life... You won't find a trace of a Costa coffee shop here, instead there are local independent cafes and shops (including a deli, organic vegetables, wet-fish, bakers, butchers), and traditional pubs (some brew their own ales), plus an award-winning local museum. There's plenty of good food and drink to be found, much of it locally produced. Surrounded by the naturally beautiful Welsh border countryside, on foot or by car there is much to enjoy locally. We love a walk on Hergest Ridge along the Offa's Dyke Path (the cottage is at the foot of the ridge) across to Gladestry, or a cream tea sitting outside on the Edwardian verandah at Hergest Croft Gardens (6 minutes walk away), or a pint by the fireside at The Harp in Old Radnor. From late May onwards almost every weekend there is a local festival or fete to be found and November and December weekends are usually busy with local Christmas Fairs. Well-known local festivals and events include: the Hereford Art Week (early September), the Rough Ride Cycle Event (August), Hay Literary Festival (end May-June), How the Light Gets In (Globe Hay end May -June), The Royal Welsh Show (Builth July), Sheep Music (Presteigne), Presteigne Music Festival, Titley Jazz Festival, Kington Vintage Show (mid August), Kington Show (a major agricultural event held in early September), Kington Walking Festival (September). Kington is ideally situated for visitors to mid-Wales and the Marches, walkers, canoeists, cyclists. It is in easy reach of Hay-on-Wye, Hereford, Leominster, Rhyader, Builth Wells, Brecon, Presteigne, the Black Mountains and Golden Valley. And Aberystwyth and the coast are just 59 miles away and easily do-able in a day. We love it here. Nearest airports : Birmingham International (74 miles), Bristol (92 miles), Cardiff (93 miiles), Manchester (119 miles) and East Midlands (114 miles) - distances vary but for all allow 2.5 - 3 hours. Nearest railway stations: Leominster (15 miles), Hereford (20 miles). From these there are direct trains to Birmingham, Cardiff, Manchester, London, Fishguard/Holyhead. Local bus services connect Kington to: Hereford, Llandrindod Wells, Presteigne, Lyonshall, Eardisley, Weobley. Local taxi services are available (best to pre-book) and recommended if arriving by train in the evening hours as buses stop running quite early. A car is not essential. Do ask if you need travel advice or local taxi numbers. Complimentary tea, coffee, milk and sugar are provided. Plus 1 big basket of logs for the wood-burner per 3 nights stay. More firewood can be purchased and is available on site. Children are very welcome but note the property is open-plan with an upstairs galleried sleeping area. Access to the stairs is open, there is no stair-gate so we would not recommend it for mobile toddlers. A high chair is available on request - please notify us in advance. One well-behaved dog, with own bedding, is welcome at an extra cost of £15. Dog owners are requested to discuss arrangements with us beforehand so as to avoid any misunderstandings. Weekly cleaning and change of bedlinen for extended stays. The price per night is for up to two people, minimum two nights. Weekly rates are available, from £325 - please contact us. The Cottage may be rented separately or together with The Old School House (4 bedrooms, sleeps 8 comfortably - see separate entry). Please contact us for discount rates during low seasons or if booking the Cottage and Old School House together.

The Shepherds Carriage is a unique structure which we built from from scratch over the course of a year. Our initial intention was to replicate the ever popular Shepherds hut, but as it grew in stature, both in height and in length, it took on its own unique look and many of our friends and family have likened it to a railway carriage or cabouse, hence its name! If you are keen to escape the hussle and bussle of daily life, and visit a very beautiful and relaxing part of the country you should consider The Shepherds Carriage @ Plaswye. Located in the picturesque village of Llyswen in the heart of the Wye Valley, the cabin is situated in the grounds of our own home and enjoys a private secluded spot next to a babbling brook with far reaching views of the Black Mountains and Wye Valley. The cabin offers a level of luxury not normally found in a glamping setting, while still retaining that all important back to basics feeling! It has its own large garden, an outdoor luxury hot tub, from where you can take in the mountain views and stars at night, a fire pit, hammock and bbq. Residents are also welcome to roam around our fields and orchard, which amount to 6 acres where our friendly goat billy lives with a small flock of black mountain sheep. Inside, the cabin couldn’t be cosier, heated by a wood burner, it has its own open plan living area with smart TV and wifi, a corner sofa that converts into a full size double bed, a well equipped kitchen with gas stove and cooker, a fridge freezer, a table which seats up to four and a bathroom with power shower and flushing toilet! Accessed via a trap door in the ceiling there is also a separate bedroom with a comfy double bed and luxurious bedding. You could experience the best nights sleep ever, we did! Be it summer or winter you are sure to come away feeling rested and revived! Guests have the opportunity to do as much or as little as they like. They can merely stay put and chill, or venture out and enjoy a host of pursuits from walking, kayaking, mountain biking, sailing and flying to a lazy day wondering around the nearby book town of Hay on Wye or market town of Brecon, nestled at the foot of Pen Y Fan, the highest mountain in southern Britain and part of the famous Brecon beacons national park. There are also some great walks direct from your doorstep, such as the Wye Valley walk and the climb, immediately behind the cabin up onto Brechfa common from where you get an amazing 360 degree view of the entire area. For keen fishermen we can also offer you access to our own private stretch of fishing on the river wye, a famous salmon fishing river and only a short walk away. If you are looking for a romantic retreat, a family holiday or a place to simply chill and destress, we are sure you won’t be disappointed! Please note: if you are looking for friends and family to join you, we also have a two double bedroom cottage available for hire, The Apple House @ Plaswye, which is also featured on this website.

Minutes from Hay on Wye, in spectacular open countryside Grove Villa nestles under Black Hill. Gaze out from the huge studio. Watch Netflix by the wood burner in the ancient parlour, play table tennis and darts in the games room, football and croquet on the vast lawns, and paddle in the stream. 5 bedrooms sleeping up to 12 people.
Grove Villa is a second home we have shared successfully over recent years. It has a very well equipped kitchen. With the large studio sitting room, good HiFi and WiFi, a kitchen big enough to seat 16 and two downstairs bedrooms (one en suite) as well as three upstairs, the house is very popular with large family groups and other get togethers.
Grove Villa is located on the Welsh borders, in Herefordshire 6 miles from the bookshop town of Hay on Wye. Everywhere around Craswall the landscape is breathtaking from the Golden Valley right up to Hay Bluff, the Black Mountains and on into Wales. We have a great close by pub/restaurant (The Bridge, Michaelchurch 01981 510646) and lovely home cooked food at a farm restaurant (White Hayward Farm, Craswall 01981 510324) an easy walk down the road, who also do fish and chips on a Thursday night! The house has maps and tourist guides for walking, cycling, canoeing, pony trekking and sightseeing round the characterful Welsh borders near Hereford, Hay-on- Wye, and Abergavenny. Grove Villa is an excellent starting point for tours: the Black & White Village Trail, the Cider Route, & the Holy Valley. The region abounds in freehouse pubs, castle ruins, and wonderful walks, long and short.
Hostující Hay-on-Way byl dobrý den.

Čestné obrázky to nedělají spravedlnost! Úžasné umístění a vila.

Welcome to our absolutely magical glamping camps. Glamping is a chance to reconnect with family and friends and is as much about how you experience the outdoors as the space you stay in. Each site is individually designed and great thought has gone into making your stay an exciting adventure with huge comfort and privacy. You will spend your days walking the woods and orchards, fishing on the River Wye, relaxing in the comfortable sitting areas and cooking on open fires or pizza ovens.
The lodge was built in 1835 as a hunting lodge for Sir John Richard Cotterell and is situated privately on its own in the middle of 350 acre woodland on the family estate about a mile up a track. The lodge had not been used for probably 60 years but is now renovated to keep its charm and to make it comfortable for guests with proper beds and a sink with hot running water provided from its own well. It is completely off grid, with solar power for some light and to power the fridge. The lodge has three woodburners - one in each of the bedrooms and one in the sitting room. Wood is provided for you. The beds will be made up ready for your arrival and bath towels are also provided. The bathroom is found in a separately accessed outhouse house with a gas powered modern walk-in shower, wash hand basin and flushing loo, so this is not quite a typical camping experience, more like experiencing a turn back in time. There is a small camping stove for cooking, and also a huge firepit and outside sitting area with a woodfired hot tub nestled on the edge of the woodland. The lodge is ideal for couples, solo adventurers, and families (with kids). One well behaved dog is welcome. The closest bus and train service is Hereford, 9 miles away, your own transport is recommended.
Nearby Hereford has a wonderful cathedral and the famous Mappa Mundi is housed next door. The city also has all the usual shops and chain restaurants, historic walks and hidden gems. Hay-on-Wye is just up the road in 15 minutes and is a glorious border town, with plenty of history and has the literary festival there every year. The sites are close to the historic 'black and white trail' of Herefordshire, leading to the Brecon Beacons.

Little Hourstones (named after the adjacent field) is a bespoke and modern A Frame cabin set in a quiet corner of our idyllic organic farm. The interior is light and airy with everything that you might need for a short stay whilst the outside benefits from a fantastic veranda and private hot tub.
Little Hourstones is just a 5-8 minute walk from the centre of the market town of Kington where you can get all of your essentials: There are at least 8 pubs to choose from as well a supermarkets, cafes, coffee shops and other independents supplying everything from local cheeses to antiques.

Unique self contained cabin located in a picturesque village in the heart of the Wye Valley and close to the world renowned book town of Hay on Wye and the Brecon Beacons National Park. Double and single bed, well equipped kitchen, wood burner, shower room, private garden, outdoor hot tub which is always warm, hammock and fire pit. Romantic retreat, family holiday or somewhere to simply relax and de-stress!
The Shepherds Cabin is a one off structure we built from scratch over the course of a year. Initially we wanted to replicate the ever popular shepherds hut because we loved their old world charm and quirkiness, but in the end felt they were just too small. We were determined to retain that look and feel but at the same time create something spacious and self contained. Somewhere you could comfortably stay for more than just one or two nights! If you are keen to escape the hussle and bussle of daily life and have a really relaxing holiday in a beautiful part of the country you should consider The Shepherds Cabin @ Plaswye. Located in the picturesque village of Llyswen in the heart of the Wye Valley, the cabin is situated in the grounds of our own home and enjoys a private secluded spot with far reaching views of the Black Mountains and Wye Valley. The cabin offers a level of luxury not normally found in a glamping setting, while still retaining that all important back to basics feel! It has its own garden, an outdoor luxury hot tub from where you can take in the mountain views and stars at night, a fire pit, hammock and bbq. Inside, the cabin is bright and airy with amazing views from every window. Fully insulated and heated by a wood burning stove the cabin couldn’t be cosier. It has its own open plan living area with smart TV and wifi, a double bed with a single bed above, a well equipped kitchen with a gas hob and cooker, a fridge freezer, a table which seats up to four and a bathroom with power shower and flushing toilet! Residents are welcome to roam around our fields and orchard, which amount to 6 acres where our friendly goat billy lives with a small flock of black mountain sheep. There are some great walks direct from the doorstep, such as the Wye Valley walk and the climb immediately behind the cabin up onto Brechfa common from where you get an amazing 360 degree view of the entire area. For keen fishermen we can also offer access to our own private stretch of fishing on the river wye, a famous salmon fishing river and only a short walk away. We do charge a small fee for this. Be it summer or winter we are sure you won’t be disappointed and will leave feeling rested and revived! Please note: if you are looking for friends and family to join you, we also have the ‘Shepherds Carriage’ and ‘Apple House Cottage’ which are also in the grounds and featured on this website.

Stonewood Cottage is in a quiet, secluded spot very close to the town’s amenities. It is tricky to locate by postcode only so look at the Directions section! This is walkers' country, with several national trails starting, finishing or passing through the town, Offa’s Dyke Path being one. The river fishing is spectacular on the Wye and the Severn. Kington is a small market town on the Welsh borders and it has several pubs, cafes and takeaways plus a walking shop
You can park outside the cottage but the access is narrow and rather steep so we advise that you initially park close by (free), call us and we will come to meet you and show you where we are. Details are in the Directions section, available after you book.
Offa's Dyke Trail comes through Kington which lies between Hay on Wye and Knighton on the route. Hergest Ridge is a half hour walk away from our doorstep. Herefordshire Trail, Glydwr's Way, the Wyche Way, the Mortimer Trail all pass through Kington. Kington Walking Festivals, April 12th to 14th and September 19th to 22nd in 2019 are very popular and well attended events, as are the two Hay-on-Wye literary festivals. We are one minute’s walk from the Oxford Arms which serves food most days. Cloud 9 Spa and pool are available at the Burton Hotel if you fancy a bit of pampering.

The Shepherds Hut at The Grange is a unique way to get away from the hustle and bustle of any busy or city life, with no phone signal and very limited WiFi, it's not like anywhere you've done before. There is optional breakfasts, lunch and evening meals during season time and the shepherds hut is private and snug perfect for any family, couple or individual to get away and relax.
The Shepherds Hut, is a small, simple and cosy space surrounded by beautiful sights and things to do. With one double bed and one single bed there is a small stove in between, on which you can roast marshmallows. It also has a decking and chairs where you can enjoy the ever changing welsh weather and often see our horses in the fields surrounding.
Situated between Abergavenny (The Gateway to Wales) and Hay-on-wye (a famous book town), the Shepherds Hut is peaceful, secluded and often described as "the perfect get way". Falling asleep under clear, star studded sky's and waking up in the heart of welsh countryside, it is free of any city or town noises and you will often catch a glimpse of things you have never seen before, owls in the night sky, farmers shearing sheep or horses being herded to the field. This little get away is an experience like no other.

Very quiet and convenient location on bus route halfways between Brecon city and book town Hay-on-Wye. Chaotic household (haven't managed to get on top of clutter), basic accommodation (mattress on the floor of my therapy room), shared bathroom and living room - not much privacy but comfortable enough, if you want to be out and about around Brecon.
the room is my therapy room. No door, only a bamboo blind / curtain, so cannot be locked. Thin walls (it's a Park Home, basically made from hardboard and wood). Might need the room occasionally for therapies.

The Summer House is a pleasant 12ftx12ft wooden hut with a 6ftx12ft veranda and decking. There is a bistro table with chairs. The Summer House is situated in my 1/3 of an acre of garden. The garden is slightly overgrown, though purposely left wild in places! Raspberries and blackberries to pick when in season. Inside there is a king size bed, 10.5 tog duvet, four pillows and a spare blanket. All bed linen and sets of towels are provided. There is a table with sets of crockery and cutlery together with kettle, toaster and jars of tea and coffee. Fresh milk and water in bottles. Hanging rail with hangers; two bedside tables with lamps; 1500w Dimplex electric radiator. Two bistro seats, easy chair and cushion. Curtains and carpets. Lock on the door. The loo, wash basin and shower are in the extension to my house. It is for your own use - not shared with me or anyone else. It is 50yds across the garden and down a few steps - so not attached to the Summer House. Sensor lights turn on as you walk and I provide a torch. The sliding door into the extension remains open all night. In the main house's extension, by the shower room, there is a space for your use with a worktable and chair. Mini fridge. Wifi access is strong here, whereas it can be weak in the Summer House itself. This space can be used as a drying room for your wet clothes after a day in the mountains and hills. To the side of the main house is a gated driveway. This is for your own use - I park on the other side of the house, leaving you with free access in and out at all times. There are lockable sheds and garages for cycles and equipment. NB - Wifi is very slow after 5pm at the moment! Then again, perhaps it's nice to get away from such newfangled inventions!

Hay on Wye town Hay on Wye is a picturesque border town nestled within the Brecon Beacons National Park, an area of outstanding beauty and dark night skies. Known the world over as ‘Town of Books’ with Richard Booth opening the first secondhand book shop back in 1962. The Hay Festival of Literature is held every year during May, attracting famous writers, politicians, poets, musicians and comedians that provide entertainment over 10 days. This May also sees the return of ‘How the Light Gets In Festival’ celebrating philosophy and music. Apart from the festivals Hay offers many attractions throughout the year. The town itself is a maze of narrow winding streets full of independent shops offering quirky goods often locally made or produced for the discerning shopper, Thursday is market day with a variety of traders. With coffee houses and places to eat (many accepting our furry friends), Hay is a place you could loose yourself for hours. The town also has its own 40 seater cinema showing current and classic films. Around Hay on Wye The outdoor activities around Hay are endless and as such we have a number of outdoor/activity shops and centres. Walking is the obvious choice with the ‘Offas Dyke Path’ running from Chepstow to Prestatyn passing through Hay on Wye on the way where it crosses ‘The Wye Valley Walk’ which follows the Wye Valley, the river also offers canoeing and fishing (license can be obtained locally). Road cycling and Mountain biking both popular activities with many routes from Hay or nearby. Other activities offered locally are Pony Trekking, Abseiling, Archery, and Caving. Hay on Wye also has a well stocked and extremely informative Tourist Information Bureau. The Lodge is in the town so there could be noise at times.

The Glamping Pod at The Grange is a unique way to get away from the hustle and bustle of any busy or city life, with no phone signal and very limited WiFi, it's not like anywhere you've done before. There is optional breakfasts, lunch and evening meals during season time and the shepherds hut is private and snug perfect for any family, couple or individual to get away and relax.
The Glamping Pod, is a small, simple and cosy space surrounded by beautiful sights and things to do. With one double bed, it also has a decking and chairs where you can enjoy the ever changing welsh weather and often see our horses in the fields surrounding.
Situated between Abergavenny (The Gateway to Wales) and Hay-on-wye (a famous book town), the Glamping Pod is peaceful, secluded and often described as "the perfect get way".

With great views over the upper Wye Valley this peaceful double room offers a real break from the rat race. Hay on Wye, Builth Wells and the Brecon Beacons are all within 20 minutes. There's a good pub a mile away and breakfast is included.
Set above the Wye valley my eco friendly cottage offers peace and tranquillity. Your only neighbours are the sheep and cattle in the adjoining fields. The house is full of character with old beams and low ceilings. It's decorated in an eclectic style of old and new furniture, traditional Welsh blankets etc. I'm a keen gardener so there's a pretty cottage garden with chairs, table and parasol which guests are welcome to enjoy in the warmer months. Your bedroom has a comfortable "Bedknobs and Broomsticks Bed" and superb views over the surrounding countryside. The ceiling is quite low so if you're tall you will need to watch your head! The bathroom (shared with me) is small but simple, stylish and contemporary. There is a cosy woodburning stove in the lounge and central heating throughout the house. The water is fed from a spring and UV treated... so no nasty chemicals. There is good WiFi, 3G and Mobile Phone reception in all areas. Guests are welcome to make tea/coffee etc in the kitchen. A help yourself breakfast of tea/coffee/fruit juice, cereals, yoghurt, toast with homemade bread and jams and my own free range eggs can be taken in the conservatory or the garden in the summer months. In winter its warmer in the main house so I tend to serve it in the kitchen/lounge. Well behaved dogs are welcome although the garden is not secure and sheep could be in the adjoining fields. My own dog Gwen is quite shy initially and will probably keep a low profile but once she gets to know you she'll be your best friend. You're welcome to take her a walk if you wish, she's very easy to manage. I also have 2 cats who come and go as they please and some free range chickens who produce the delicious eggs for breakfast. There is ample parking for cars, vans etc plus a secure barn for motorcycles, bicycles, kayaks etc.
Crickadarn is a small farming community in the heart of Mid Wales. The nearest village of note is Erwood a mile away on the A470. The pub here has a really friendly, welcoming atmosphere and serves excellent meals. Everyone that goes down there comes back saying how friendly everyone is. There are also plenty of other good eating options in the area that I can recommend. Builth Wells, home to the Royal Welsh Showground with its annual Agricultural Show in July plus many other events throughout the year is 15 minutes away by car. Hay on Wye with it's quirky book, antique shops and Literary Festival is 20 minutes and Brecon and the Brecon Beacons National Park 25 minutes. There's great walking right from the door and you can get to some of the most remote and unexplored parts of upland Mid Wales in minutes. The whole of the Wye Valley, Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons offer unlimited walking, cycling, kayaking and fishing opportunities. National Cycle Network Route 8 and the Wye Valley Walk are both one mile from the cottage.
Ubytování a pohostinnost byly výjimečné.
