Apartment No. 6 is built from local stone, located in a quiet cul-de-sac it is self-contained with its own private entrance and parking. It sleeps one or two couples and is furnished in a contemporary country style with bespoke soft furnishings. Our comfortable apartment benefits from being on one level whilst having views to the Pennine fells. There is superb attention to detail throughout and during your stay you will find ample towels, quality toiletries, a selection of local produce and complementary tea and coffee. Outside there is a secluded garden, private parking and views of the stunning North Pennines. The apartment is particularly suited to couples having two king size beds. It is open all year including Christmas and New Year when we decorate for the festive season and include a seasonal welcome hamper. We particularly welcome walkers. We speak Dutch, Flemish, French and German.
Furnished with quality English furniture the lounge is light and airy during the day. For cosy evenings it has a feature fireplace and is equipped with a 40” TV. Apt. No. 6 has a spacious country kitchen with an oak dining table. It is fully equipped for long or short stays and benefits from a dishwasher, fridge freezer, electric induction hob and double oven, microwave, toaster, kettle and cafetiere. We provide tea, sugar, coffee and starter provisions including kitchen roll. Tea towels are supplied along with cleaning supplies, hand soap, washing up liquid, a vacuum cleaner, ironing board and iron. The property is professionally cleaned after every visitor and all linen, towels and bed linen are refreshed.
Both the bedrooms overlook the private garden and are quiet. The larger bedroom has a continental King size bed with a luxurious Hypnos mattress, matching European oak furniture, mirror, bespoke book trough, hanging space and a towel warmer. The second bedroom has a King size bed with an English cherry wood dressing table and drawer cabinet and has William Morris soft furnishings. Both bedrooms have a Sunrise System dawn simulator for gentle awakening.
Clean and warm the bathroom is tiled throughout with a power shower over the bath. There is a mirror with light and shaver point. The airing cupboard keeps your towels warm and fresh and here you will find the First Aid kit and emergency toiletry spares. We also provide toilet rolls, quality toiletries and soap.
Parking (for two cars) is directly in front of the ground floor apartment with private use of the garden to the rear of that apartment. Chairs available. Bicycle and equipment storage available on request.
ACCESS and GUEST INTERACTION
Ideal for retired visitors the apartment is on one level indoors – it has two small entrance steps. Generally the key is available from the secure key lock box located at the property. The owners are local and happy to assist with any queries. A comprehensive information folder is located in the lounge and we provide contact and check out information.
Alston is a special place to escape to, a small town of beautiful Cumbrian stone buildings, fantastic scenery as its backdrop and a fascinating history. From Apt. No. 6 you are a short walk from Alston’s collection of artisan shops, its post office, pharmacy, supermarkets, pubs and cafes. There is an excellent and friendly Tourist Information Centre at Town Foot, a Town Hall with occasional entertainment and films, a steam railway, heritage museum and Roman Fort site. Nearby there are lead mining visitor centres with events and on your travels you will see a large variety of birds and wildlife. In addition to the fabulous walking and cycling (C2C route) most outdoor activities are available locally including coarse and salmon fishing, ski-ing, canoeing, horse riding and field sports. This is a superb location for walkers since it is on the Pennine Way, Isaac’s Tea Trail and many other popular routes. It is a scenic drive to the Lake District, Northumberland National Park, Hadrians Wall, spectacular moorland, historic market towns and the dramatic High Force waterfall in Teesdale. We recommend the Alston Wholefood Store which is open 7 days a week and has local produce and an excellent delicatessen and the pharmacy with its friendly knowledgeable staff.
