It was great you could walk to store or bar. Beach was easy access across street.
Place was ok, but not great. Wasn’t all that clean—including the refrigerator, which had all kinds of smudges on the door and top. This is probably due to the fact that the owner includes in his instructions that one must use tape to keep the refrigerator door closed! We found some electrical tape to replace the badly worn tape on the fridge when we got there. Bed is on a futon, making it a little unsteady and we imagined someone could possibly fall out of bed because of it. Back deck could have been nicer and cleaner. But owner doesn’t live nearby and depends on a woman, who got mad when I told her I wasn’t ready to leave when she got there at 11:00am on Sunday! Location is fine—short walk to many places. All in all, a little expensive given what you get. Offseason you can do better than this place, lodging-wise. But it’s not a terrible place. Owner “requests” you leave $50 for cleaning. Why I left that amount I don’t know and am not happy about it. Should have left $20. My fault.
I had a wonderful stay at Roger's camp. It was quiet, peaceful and very homey - the perfect place to escape the city. His yard is beautiful and has a lovely deck overlooking it where I spent every morning watching the birds. Very close to the beach too. Hope I can come back!
Host was very responsive, provided good instructions and the house was very nice, both authentic and a rustic touch to it. The garden was also very nice and fenced which is great with kids. The sound system is absolutely great and we listened to very nice old tunes from the set radio channel. The appliances are quite outdated and the cooking stove would have needed a deeper clean to avoid bugs from showing up. Overall a very good experience, the kids definitely loved it and we enjoyed the quiet and secluded feeling of this camp.
Home was very clean and comfortable. Good location on Grand Isle
We really enjoyed our stay at Roger's camp on Grand Isle. The outside deck was perfect to spend the evening under the trees that surround the camp. Roger gave us advices during our stay, and was reachable at any time. We loved Grand Isle, and we'll definitely come back.
Had a great time! Pros: nice shaded lush yard, grill on deck, big open kitchen with cookware and everything you'd need, 15min walk to beach, close to grocery. and affordable! And Roger was very easy to contact with any concerns. Cons: place needs a deep cleaning, mildew smell on pillows. Didn't find the crab traps that were mentioned.
A great house, rustic but comfortable. We enjoyed our stay there and loved Grand Isle.
Rebecca's place is wonderful! Brought a group of friends down and we really enjoyed the weekend. There's everything you need to cook, two refrigerators, a great living room and dining area (that our weekend working friends mostly used to work and study). The pool is awesome and a great refreshing temperature! It made the trip! So pretty! Bring a little bug spray for your ankles in the evening and at the beach... The path to the beach is a little over grown, but we were able to walk right next door and get down that beach path pretty easily. You're not far from Joe Bob's - a good store just down the way. Perfect for a big group of friends and families! Rebecca is super easy to communicate with and arrival and departure were seamless! Super easy!
Great place on the eastern (marina side) of the island. It's quite large and the pool area is great. Bonus: poker table with chips and cards provided!
It was a perfect camp for our large group. The pool was well taken care of considering we went swimming in November. Nice large deck for hanging out. It was on par for most fishing camps I have been to in Louisiana. Nothing fancy but everything you need.
