Entire, spacious, unique home all to yourself (while we are away travelling).
Welcome to our informal, welcoming, cosy, comfy, clean, 1930s house. On the edge of a lovely village in beautiful rural Somerset.
Sit around the outdoor firepit, or relax indoors by the woodburner, on our squishy sofas. Sunbathe in the garden while you listen to the birds ...
We have no tv, wifi or microwave! Plenty of great books and music.
The perfect rural-but-not-boring getaway with NO CROWDS!
Our cosy home is on the edge of a small village, with good-sized gardens to relax in, and days of countryside walks on isolated paths and tracks. Supermarkets deliver to this address. Lots of takeaway and delivery food available too.
Located in an area that offers a real slice of old England. Endless lanes, meadows and tracks all around for walking, running and cycling.
Suitable for holidays or for longer stays for work, etc. Just ask us if a longer stay is possible.
Close to us are stunning historic villages, a fantastic ancient cider farm, really special local gastro-pubs and award-winning cafes, historic mansions and gardens, Cheddar Gorge, the fabulous Roman city of Bath, and the world famous Glastonbury town and Tor.
Our home is unique, bright, light, informal, comfy and has two great double beds, a woodburner, outdoor firepit and garden furniture, rural views - in the summer, enjoy them from the bench under our huge walnut tree.
Help yourself to organic produce from our trees - sweet cherries in June, juicy plums in August, crunchy apples in September, and fresh walnuts in October.
Take a stroll to local farms to pick up some free range eggs and veg and just drop your payment in the honesty box!
Tip for best pubs: The Devonshire Arms in Long Sutton for a superb meal; The Firehouse is a stunning place to wine and dine and meet the locals, in our village (10 mins walk away) and it has a great reputation, the newly renovated Lamb and Lion at Hambridge, the newly renovated Drayton Arms at Drayton, and The Rose and Crown in Langport for a unique old style pub.
Tip for best cafes: Award-winning Living Pretty, in our village for great meals and cakes at a good price and in a great retro style; The Stables cafe, in Fivehead (check online for opening times); Art Tea Zen is a groovy cafe in Langport. Also in Langport is the fantastic Kitchen at the wharf (they have a bakery in town too). There is also a brilliant retro health food shop in Langport, a Tesco, post office, and the wonderful gift shop, Florin, is the most charming place to buy your holiday souvenirs.
Tips for the best alternative food shops: Langport Stores, or the health food shop in pretty Somerton.
Get up when you want and either take a hearty, healthy breakfast at nearby Living Pretty cafe (5 mins walk) or bring your own treats to cook in our home.
Our neighbourhood is rural but not isolated. It's in a very scenic, old part of South Somerset, surrounded by ancient stone villages, old cider apple orchards, country pubs with gardens, several unique cafes, and other places of interest - discover the willow weaving centres, the Parret hiking and biking trail, Langport glass blower and art gallery, Burton Pynsent monument, a gorgeous 5 mile circular walk right from our home. So much to see and so if you feel like it.
Our house is a great base for attending local sporting events such as the famous Langport Walking Festival (https://www.ldwa.org.uk/challenge_events/show_event.php?event_id=17455). Also for cycling events (https://www.sportive.com/events/tour-of-wessex/2018-05-26/3754/cycling).
Our area is great for birders - we have an RSPB base just down the road on The Levels, which are known for migratory birds in the autumn as the water rises across the marshy levels.
We love the local artisan cafes and quaint pubs that are hundreds of years old. Highly recommended is our local award-winning cafe, Living Pretty and their sister business, the famous Firehouse gastro-pub.
There's a wholefood shop and artisan bakery in Langport.
We love daily walks in the lanes and meadows, a meal, or coffee and cake in Langport, (best is The Wharf, and Art Tea Zen) or a drive to Glastonbury, Bath or Stourhead.
Our neighbourhood is very clean, quiet and safe.
There are lots of arts, cultural, village, rural and sporting events throughout the summer. Lots to see, do and join in with!
