TrollSplinter Land is your own private camp spot on the Olympic coast. Located on Cedar Creek, that feeds into beautiful Ruby Beach, TrollSplinter Land is 20 acres of raw coastal forest. Fish the creek, hunt for mushrooms, or just use it as base camp while enjoying the Olympic Natl Park. Minutes from Kalaloch, beach 3 and 4, and a 3 mile drive or walk to Ruby Beach. This is rugged land, often wet, and not for those looking for luxury and comfort. The only running water is the creek itself.
For those ready to rough it, this camp has unrivaled Olympic Coast privacy. This raw, 23 acre parcel is situated on Cedar Creek, which finishes it's course among the sea stacks of Ruby Beach. Short on comfort and long on beauty, this a great spot for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts, and folks that don't mind hauling their creature comforts along with them. It is possible to drive straight into camp in a vehicle with basic off road abilities, otherwise it's a short walk to camp. There is no electricity, running water, or walled structures. Creek water must be boiled or filtered for drinking, or you can bring water in with you. There is equipment to aide in open fire cooking, and two designated fire areas. Camp is accessed by a 1 mile + gravel road. It's a bumpy ride in spots, but no car has been unable to make it, including a laden Geo Metro. All 23 acres are open to you. There are two raised and covered platforms great for sleeping on, mats or cots are necessary. The kitchen area has a table, cook fire ring, shelving, and countertop. There is an outhouse. Depending on the length of your stay and/or your needs, it can be arranged for myself or a family member to be available to you. I have a general knowledge of bushcraft skills, and can be hired to share what I know if desired. My skills include plant and mushroom identification, survival shelter building, fire by friction, blacksmithing, and backcountry woodworking.
There are a few neighbors, but folks stick to their own parcels. It is unlikely you will see anybody while driving in, but you'll pass a handful of broken down cars and the usual country decor. Cedar Creek rd. is home to a special breed that's rough around the edges but great people. You may hear gun shots, but doesn't happen too often and almost never happens for long. All it takes is a smile and a wave to be polite if you see folks. The gravel road off the 101 is long and winding, but well beyond worth it for total seclusion. This land is in the rainforest. Summer is usually beautiful, but always be prepared for rain just in case.
