“The Tarka Trail is a pedestrian and cycle way within the North Devon Biosphere Reserve. There is a 48km, shared-use section between Braunton and Meeth which runs along the line of an old railway. It is part of the National Cycle Network and mainly flat to cycle on . You can cycle from Braunton to Barnstaple on the cycle trail.”

“Brilliant facilities, warm welcomes given for a day or two on the hills. A fab day for those who enjoy a bit of adrenaline, or those who like good coffee and cake whilst others get muddy and sweaty! ”

“Great grounds and made famous recently for being used as a location for Tim Burton’s film Alice in Wonderland. It has a trail for this in its grounds”

“Perfectly situated, surrounded by the beautiful Cotswolds rolling countryside, Tetbury has something to offer everyone for all seasons. From its iconic 17th century Market Hall, where markets are held twice weekly to the elegant Georgian wool merchants’ houses, Tetbury has a sense of timeless beauty. The medieval street of Chipping Steps, lined with picturesque weavers’ cottages to the awe-inspiring Georgian Gothic church of St Mary the Virgin & Mary Magdalen, the buildings are the perfect backdrop for the stunning floral displays each summer which Tetbury in Bloom work tirelessly to provide. At Christmas the town takes on a magical feel with the Market Hall decked in lights and the shop fronts alight with festive cheer.”

“A great cycling/walking/dog-walking venue. Very manageable for the able-bodied (from older kids up) to make it all the way round at a steady pace on a day with fair weather. The visitor centre is set to close in 2018-19 for refurbishment, but bring your own supplies and the trails are set to remain open. There's usually a £2 charge for parking.”

“Lovely woodland for walking/running. Great for families and a natural playground for kids with dens, hollow logs and piles of leaves to play in. Nice to combine with a visit to the suspension bridge: cross over the bridge (£1 toll in a car, free on foot/bike) and take the first right hand turn after the bridge. Follow the road round for half a mile or so and there’s a gate into the woods on the right. Pick your path and enjoy! Head upwards for views of Bristol and the suspension bridge from across the Avon Gorge. 20mins taxi, 30mins bike or take the train from Stapleton road to Clifton Down and walk 20mins from there. ”
