The map is incorrect for this, you can enter the levee on Leake St/River Road just a couple of blocks away from the house.

The French Quarter is a must for wandering, exploring, shopping, music, food, and nightlife. I honestly expect it during the daytime, not as much at night. But it's a totally different place, for day and night, so it's worth coming in the afternoon and staying into evening.
