Food Scene

A charming café/bar/restaurant with very good and reasonably priced pizza! There's also a basement where they show sports and have a shuffle board

A street that has filled up with trendy and interesting restaurants and bars the last couple of years. I recommend the micro brewery Crowbar, the restaurant Taco Republica for mexican food, Piscoteket for peruvian food, Munchies for burgers, and Yummy Heaven for an excellent selection of scandinavian candy!

Damstredet is a small and very charming street with very old, very small, very cute little houses. Worth a stroll through!

Akerselva is the main river flowing through Oslo (and dividing the east from the west). It's a popular hike for locals. From the apartment, it's a 7-8 minute walk to the river, where you can hike up upstreams or downstream. I'd recommend going upstreams if you'd like to hike for a little while - as you can see from the map, it goes very far up north, so you can potentially walk for hours

Everything Else

Mathallen is Oslo's upscale "food court" with many restaurants and food markets. You can find everything from tapas to burgers to fresh seafood ingredients. Some of it is expensive, some is not.

A small and charming cocktail bar with an overload of plants - there's almost a tropical feel to the place.

Arts & Culture

Unless you're abnormally into Edward Munch, don't go to the Munch museum, go here instead. The National Gallery has versions of the most famous Edward Munch paintings (he painted more than one of some of his paintings) as well as an impressive selection of other Norwegian artists. My favorites are the large new-romanticism paintings depicting Norwegian nature in beautiful ways, like for instance Tidemand and Gude's paintings
