Busy and scene-y, this place used to be a pop-up on the corner, but now it has its own space on 18th just across Mission. Best eggs of any ramen I've had in the city, and the staff is super friendly.

A Mission institution, this Italian restaurant is delicious and the staff is delightful. Also try Delfina Pizzeria next door, but for a great meal, start here. Walk-ins for the counter and bar are always welcome. Just arrive early and have the wine flight!

It's in all the guidebooks, and for good reason: Tartine Bakery's wares are divine. Go early on a weekday and don't be daunted by the line. It moves quickly as soon as soon as the doors open. Get the morning bun or the ham croissant. Mmmmm…
