Swimming and exploring the beauty in New Mexico!
Its a wonderful escape from your busy life! its 45 minutes from literally everything! it has extremely well kept picnic areas with grills to cook on.. Great place to bring the family and make memories while playing in the beautiful water fall! They do change a $5 fee for parking although if you have a National Park pass they will wave the fee.. Be sure to pack a lunch and put gas before leaving Carlsbad is definitely something i recommend! Additionally they allow your pets to join you! and have clean restrooms!

Beautiful oasis in the desert. Clean clear water you can see 12ft all the way to bottom of this spring fed swimming hole!
there is also a deck built on with is great to relax and let your worries melt away! If you do continue past this little jem and go all the way to the end of the Washington Ranch road! you will arrive at Slaughter Canyon with was actually my husband's and mine 1st date 15 years ago.. its beautiful!

Just down from Cottonwood i have found myself several hours deep in this canyon and cave many of times! I'm always dumbfounded at the old fossils in this aera! I still get excited to go look time and time again! Fun fact!!!A long time ago this aera all used to be under the ocean.. I have found something here that was totally unexpected and mind blowing! I made this discovery several years back on a hiking trip. It was just my husband and myself this trip. I have to relocate the box i stashed it in for safe keeping! When I pull it out ill attach pictures to this post! I seriously never would of Imagined I would have located this once in a lifetime find !!! I just looked down on one of my hiking trips and... omg... A HONEY BEA FOSSIL in this canyon!!! It's by far the coolest thing I have ever found in my hole life!!! you can see the fuz on its body, the legs, stripes and everything is perfectly preserved it was and always will be the find of a life time to me! With only 1 exception...My Wonderful husband! lol but definitely recommend if you have time to go take a look!

I consider this park to be one of the most beautiful wonders of the world!
escape the heat of the summer its a consistent 64ﾟF its a must see! i have heard since covid the are asking everyone to make a reservation walk-ins are not always available! In the summer be sure to inquire about attending the nightly bat flight program.. its 100% free to see them fly!!! As the fly out it looks like a huge wave of smoke really neat to witness!
