Nabolag

Røa is a residential area and former district north of Ullernåsen and east of Lysakerelva in the western part of Oslo, and borders Bærum in the west. In the 19th century, Røa was an agricultural area that had a mill and sawmill, but the area was parceled out from the early 20th century. The development gained momentum in the 1920s, and the area was established as a suburb when Røabanen with Røa station came in 1935. The area was, and still is, mainly built with small houses, but some terraced houses and apartment blocks were built after World War II. With the district reform in 2004, the district Røa (district number 24) was merged with Vinderen, and is now part of the district Vestre Aker. The origin of the name is a Norse plural form of ruð, which means «clearing», ie the name means «clearings». Rød or Røed is also the name of farms that have been located in the Røa area. Røa has two shopping centers, also including restaurants and cafe`s: https://roasenter.no/ https://roatorg.no/
