Get the Strætó app or Klapp app.
If you want to travel by bus, Strætó will take you around. The number 2 bus will take you straight down town, it is only a 5 minutes walk from the apartment. It takes about 35 minutes with that bus. A single Ticket is 500 króna and lasts for about 1,5 hours.
The Strætó app is a useful tool for visitors.
Another app is called Klapp and can be used to purchase tickets for the bus.

For short distance traveling there are electric scooters.
Hopp is an app with which one can book and ride electric scooters which can be very helpful for covering short distances in the city. A car can also be rented with this app although it does not travel far outside of the Midtown area.

By car one can get downtown in 10-15 minutes. Taking Reykjanesbraut, a motorway near by.
