TEDS is just awesome. Their menu is great, decor too, staff are nice and they do brunch, plus cocktails, all day long. It's a favorite for locals too so get there early if you don't want to wait.

You can go there to get fresh baguettes for breakfast, but they also have a restaurant so you can eat in. I'm a sucker for their tartelettes... :)

Dapper is a bar/restaurant that serves a mean plate & has an awesome summer terrace that gets loads and loads of sun. In the winter, the inside is very cosy too. Too lazy to make coffee? Do it the lazy way - stroll next door & let Dapper make your coffee & brunch for you :) #neighbourstolove

Paradiso is a nightclub / concert venue in one, set in a former church building which makes for a very cool decor. The drinks are bad & served in plastic, but it's iconic & worth a visit just for that..

Sugarfactory is a club that keeps on going and has different parties/themes almost every night of the week. Really good for those random nights when there's nothing going on everywhere else. Their 'Wicked Jazz Sounds' Sunday nights are great and draw an interesting crowd; a lot less people with Monday to Friday 9-5 jobs..

Getting Around
If you want to visit multiple cities & villages in the Netherlands and don't want to be bound to train times or public transport connections, renting a car is a good option. The Netherlands is a manageable size - you can see a lot of it in quite a short time!

Bikes are the best way to get around Amsterdam - distances are relatively short & the city is extremely bike-friendly (getting around Amsterdam by car, in contrast, is much more complicated - and parking in the centre is scarce & expensive).
