Marymere Falls is located in Olympic National Park near Lake Crescent in Washington, United States. The falls are accessed by a one-mile, well maintained, dirt trail through old-growth lowland forest consisting of fir, cedar, hemlock, and alder trees. Port Angeles is a premier whale watching destination. In recent years, the surrounding waters have become one of the leading destinations for viewing humpback whales in North America. Both salmon-eating and mammal-eating orcas are often spotted here as well. From Port Angeles, the comfortable Island Explorer 4 can head west into the Strait of Juan de Fuca, east toward the San Juan Islands, or north to Race Rocks Ecological Preserve, a memorable spot they visit. Offers private charters for a family, company or crew outings throughout the year. The Island Explorer 4 and Island Explorer 5 feature full walk around lower decks, upper viewing decks, great sound systems, heated cabins, galley service, his and her restrooms and a great crew. Great for whale watching tour, wedding, corporate team building event, or a family reunion.

Beautiful, serene hike out to the lighthouse. If you come during 9-5 business hours there are tours of the lighthouse available and the volunteers are very friendly and informative. Ediz Hook is a stunning site along the Strait of Juan de Fuca, providing great birding views to the Strait and to the Port Angeles harbor. Look one way and see the Olympic Mountains. Look the other and see the Canadian Mountains! It attracts rare birds in winter. I only rate it an average though because the city allows the feeding and maintenance of a feral cat population at this location.

One of our favorite hikes and we highly recommend. Beautiful views of Cape Flattery, the lighthouse, Pacific Ocean, Strait of Juan de Fuca with the Canadian Mountains across the way. The hike is about 1.5 miles roundtrip with 200' gain is the furthest northwest tip of the contiguous United State, Cape Flattery provides a dramatic backdrop to a surprisingly accessible hike. It's managed by the Makah Tribe, who provide permits for parking here at Washburn's General Store, The Makah Museum, and many other locations in Neah Bay. As you drive through on the way to the trailhead, be sure to purchase yours -- they're good for the year, and you can also use it for Shi Shi Beach. From the trailhead, depart down a wide, graveled trail into open forest. Heading gently downhill, the trail narrows down to boardwalk, keeping hikers out of the worst of the mud before transitioning to rooty tread. Signs along the way encourage you to stay on the trail; please honor these. This area sees enough traffic that a spur trail can quickly impact the area in a bad way. Preserve your future visits here by remaining on trail during this visit. Eventually, the trail returns to boardwalk, carrying you over a boggy sections as the wind intensifies. You're approaching the point. Three turnoffs exist that allow you to see views from all sides of the point. The first branches off to the left, to a viewing platform that allows you to peer down the sheer south side of the point. The second, a few hundred feet further down the trail, is a two-layered affair, where you can enjoy an expansive view north from the upper deck, and a more intimate view of the sea caves below from the lower layer. The third and last is, appropriately, the piece-de-resistance: a viewing platform accessed via a very steep but short stepladder. Straight ahead is Tatoosh Island. A lonely lighthouse sits on the island, which is constantly buffeted by waves and wind. To the north, it's the rocks of Cape Flattery reef, while to the south it's Kessiso Rocks. Birds wing in the breeze, and the seas around here teem with life. The constant pounding surf and the meeting of water with land here provides an ideal place for animals of all sorts to feed. As you gaze out on the Pacific, look for seagulls, cormorants, shorebirds of many other sorts, and marine animals like whales or otters playing in the surf.

Coffee Shops

"WELCOME TO THE GREAT NORTHERN COFFEE BAR. We are dedicated to providing big dreams in a small town, tight knit community. We’ve created a home to share our passion for people, for food, for coffee and beer. We saw a need and we filled it. This community, our customers were hungry for change, for growth. We gave them exactly that; an experience of who we are, who this town is and where we came from. We’re renewing a sense of pride in the local community, showcasing how we got here and what created the success in our small town. We are fighting to be a front runner in this community-pride movement. We’re not reinventing it, but re-enforcing it. Re-establishing the need for relationships, creating excitement for the knowledge of our history and the foundation of the American experience. We set out to create an atmosphere, a business model like nothing else around; local coffee roasters, in-house baked goods. Developing menu items made with local ingredients, craft beer and local wine. We have enlisted the help of several local businesses to supply us with our inventory and daily operations. We were able to grow our Northern family and create jobs. Our plans are bold and include internships to learn our craft, expanding our retail, marketing and social media reach, to widen our menus and hire much more. We are not interested in just employees but to grow aspiring leaders. We are going to be a front runner for many successful careers. There is always something in the works at The Great Northern, where we can work together to maintain sustainable businesses. Our mission is to create an atmosphere for interaction, for socialization. Building a community coffee bar where we can share a coffee in the morning with a neighbor and return in the evening for a glass of wine, always feeling at home. The Great Northern is the setting for people to spend quality time with an old friend they fell out of touch with. It’s a place to spark a new friendship, a new relationship. A warm place that creates the family dinner atmosphere. We are unraveling the disconnect from social media, people are starting to notice they are missing the old fashion interaction. We are providing the platform for acquiring more community and personal involvement. We’re excited for our future plans to create more jobs, to give back locally, to expand and have the power to thrive big in our small town. And we personally invite you to share our passion for people, for food, for coffee and beer. Our craft is your experience. "

Sunsets In Port Angeles

Port Angeles has some great sunset viewing opportunities. We recommend Ediz Hook with the wildlife and Olympic National Park Mountains make for some great photos! You might see some Otters following you from the shoreline or Bald Eagles! You will love the sunset opportunities we have!
