Great place to grab a burger and a beer....you can even walk there from our house. It's a very fun, unpretentious, local scene, and they often have a local band playing on weekends.

Lake Minnewaska is incredible bang for your buck. It's a 1-mile loop that's stroller, dog and family-friendly with some of the best views you'll experience anywhere in the world. It's always a crowd pleaser.
If you want more exercise, the hike/bike ride to Lake Awosting is equally as fabulous. It's 7 miles round trip, and we recommend doing it by bike. The payoff on the ride home via Hamilton Carriage way is spectacular.

The Mohonk Mountain House is a classic. Day guests are allowed at certain times of the year for a fee or you can hike in from the Mohonk Preserve trailheads (like spring farm road); day guests can also reserve tennis courts, spa treatments and go ice skating for a fee. All are highly recommended.

Nice bite-size museum packed full of early-american history. There's a working model of a lock, a moving model of a gravity railroad brake car, and dioramas of canal life. Also lots of original paintings by canal-era artists. The D&H Canal Museum Store sells maps, cards, posters, books about the era and children’s toys/ games. Also The 5-Lock Walk can be accessed year round without charge. The five locks were built in 1847 and designed to accommodate increased traffic. A loading quay can be seen just past lock 16. Constructed with Shawangunk conglomerate, an indigenous stone, each lock measures 90’ long, 15’ wide, and 15’ deep, and provides an average change in elevation of 12.6’.

Wired Gallery has high quality work by local Hudson Valley Artists. The owner also curates two free exhibit spaces and a sculpture garden across the street at the High Falls Emporium. The exhibit space features Marc Chagall and other artists with a connection to the area.
