During your tour in the National Marine Park of Zakynthos, you will have the chance to visit the Caretta caretta nesting beaches and see the oldest and most loyal visitor of the island, the loggerhead sea turtle, the Mediterranean monk seal Monachus monachus, a high biodiversity since it encompasses a considerable number of marine flora (>170 species) and fauna (> 300 species) expanding from the shallower to the deeper parts of the seabed, as well the richness of terrestrial habitat and flora species. The Church of Panagia Faneromeni is located at he Ammos district, in the southern part of Zakynthos, and it houses some of the most significant and brilliant works of art, jewellery, woodcut and hagiography. If you are an arts lover, you should pay a visit to this church so that you can admire the incomparable talent of the painter Doxaras and his students, as it unfolds in the interior. The church was built in the 15th century but was destroyed during the earthquake in 1953 and was rebuilt with the same materials, according to its old form and keeping the same bell which was undamaged. The hagiographies that decorated the interior and survived the earthquake are now at the Byzantine museum.

Two kilometres away from Zakynthos (Zante) city, we arrive at Strani Hill. This is were our National Poet Dionisios Solomos, who ispired from canonnades in Mesologgi ,wrote our National Anthem.

In the historical square of Saint Markos, used to be also the Casino of the island, place of meeting for the Broads, which with the earthquakes 1953 was also destroyed. After the earhquake, in this position the "Solomos & Kalvos Museum" was built.
