This is an old school locals favorite. It's been there forever and is diner style. Their menu is huge and the breakfasts and comfort foods (think meatloaf or home made burger) are the best.

Delicious, authentic Mexican food in a little hole in the wall location about four blocks away from our guest house. It's not a fancy place but the food is fresh, authentic and delicious! Fairly inexpensive too.

This historic old ship is very cool to visit. It is supposedly haunted and has many stories to tell. There are signs around the ship telling of it's history and guidebooks available.

This is our favorite art museum (and we've been to a lot!) You can spend hours looking at the beautiful art or have a picnic lunch out on the grass and enjoy the spectacular architecture of the museum itself. On a clear day you can see for miles over Los Angeles, the beaches and Catalina Island.

You can spend hours looking at the beautiful art or have a picnic lunch out on the grass and enjoy the spectacular architecture of the museum itself. On a clear day you can see for miles over Los Angeles, the beaches and Catalina Island.
It's a bit of a drive, about 2 hours with traffic but if you like roller coasters it's worth it!

This lovely neighborhood is on the water about a 6 minute drive from our guest house. It is an inlet and there are public canal waterways where you can rent kayaks or paddle boards and cruise around or just hang on the beach without the big waves. If you are looking for a romantic treat in the evening, you can ride a gondola through canals, just like in Venice Italy. You are seated in a Venetian style gondola while being rowed through the calm, night water with opera music serenading you. The company is called Gondola Getaway (562) 433-9595 You can bring your own wine and snacks and make a romantic evening of it. We highly recommend this!
