I love the coffe here, lavender lemonade, sitting on the provence-style white benches outside and enjoy the atmosphere of Farmer's Market. Eggs with feta are very nice here.

If you would like to try (or to enjoy :-)) Czech cuisine, definitely try! You can also try there the special drink called "Korma" - it is beer with honey liquer - very special and very delicious :-)

A hidden coffee shop (the entrance is hidden in a small passage - so don't give up and ask) with the atmosphere of the beginning of the 20th century. The place where the university students were meeting, studying/ reading. It's not touristy, not the posh place. More kind of hidden gem, where Brno's students are going to.

Totally vegan! If you're vegetarian like me (or even vegan), you'll really enjoy the food here. If you wanna to try the cheapest price-to-value option here, try the lunch menu during work days. Or try the best vegan burgers in Brno. I personally love the Superbowl (salats with superfood according to your options) here. You can recognize the rest of the architectonics signs of 30's (unfortunately the most of the famous cafe was destroyed during the communism era when there was a fabric shop here).

Drinks & Nightlife

Love the atmosphere of Czech bars in art-nouveau and functionalism era from the beginning of the 20th century. Love sitting on the bar and asking the barmen directly what kind of flavor do I want to taste in my drink tonight and they can do it exactly how I wanted it to taste!

Best for beer time! "Na stojáka" means "standing only in Czech. They have no chairs here. People usually sit on the kerb of the pavement at Jakob's square. Do the same, drink your beer and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of the square. Maybe you will be lucky and there will be some exhibition or live music. Great choice of small and medium breweries.

Hidden place, dark walls, and amenities, a little bit of light only, sewing machines used as tables... You feel like somewhere between the 20th jazz ages, Tolkien's Similmairon or punk nest. Simply back in time.

Parks & Nature

A very favorite spot of park sessions of Brno's young people - you can see them here to exercise yoga, tai-chi or even swordplay, play guitar, frisbee and much more. This is the real contact with the locals. Nice place to relax, have a picnic, enjoy the green surroundings and watch the happening around.

Sightseeing

Climb up to the Old Town Hall tower and enjoy the view of the whole neighborhood - our house and whole Masarykova, farmer's market square, St Peter and St Paul Cathedral, Spilberk and the whole Brno's historical center. The interesting thing is a wooden cart wheel and Brno dragon hidden in the passage - both are symbols of Brno. The legend says one self-esteemed medieval wheelmaker, who bet he will manage to make it from the sunrise to the west the same day. So he defeats the tree, made the wheel and rolled it to Brno Old town hall. He won, but people believed the devil helped him to win. Anyway, the wooden wheel became the symbol of Brno and hangs in the Old town hall entrance today.

Brno's skyline dominant. Originally Romanesque rotunda, now Gothique cathedral with some Baroque signs, because of two Baroque reconstructions. You can enjoy a stunning view if you are lucky and the tower is open for visitors, but it's quite rare. You can enjoy a very nice panoramic view of Brno in surroundingg park, called Denis Gardens. It's also a very nice place to relax.

Art-nouveau villa with nice garden. Alfred Löw-Beer who have build it, was Jewish industrialist and trader in textiles. Most of the family members fled to Great Britain to escape the Nazi terror in 1939, but Alfred Löw-Beer stayed in occupied Czechoslovakia to try and save as much as possible of the family fortune. At Easter time in 1939 he died on the run in unclear circumstances and his dead body was found on a railway track near Stříbro (west of Czech Republic). He gave his daughter Greta part of the land, where she and her husband Fritz Tugendhat had a house built between 1929 and 1930 – today the world-famous Villa Tugendhat (functionalism). It's just around the corner, few steps from our apartment and you can't skip it! Peaceful place in the heart of the city. Have a cup of coffee at Cafe Tungsram, you'll love it. Or enjoy the sunset here with a glass of wine (at Cafe Tungsram or Cafe Pilat) and stay outside - you may listen some live music from the Bishop's courtyard (especially in summer there are happening a lot of open-air classical music concerts. Great spot for photos with St Peter and Paul's Cathedral panorama - the dominant of city's skyline.

A very well-known statue, it remains the patrol (Swedish effort of a conquest of Brno). Finally, Brno wasn't conquered because of the show-of (like the legend says) of the Swedish general. He boasted he will make Brno give up before noon otherwise will leave. It was looking he will break the borders of the city, but Brno's people used a little trick - the bells of Petrov rang the noon one hour earlier - at 11. That's why the rang today at 11 as 12 as well. 11 hour is important, so also the "astronomical clock" (called more phallus or dildo by Brno's people) drop 1 small glass ball at 11 - you can try to catch it. There is a small flag of the city inside of it.
