Restaurant and culture in Sino-Portuguese style.

Old Phuket Town, is an area of historical interest in Phuket City. The main streets of Old Phuket Town are Thalang, Phang Nga, Krabi, Dibuk, and Yoawarat. Old Phuket Town is noted for Sino-Portuguese buildings on both sides of the street. Many old buildings have been converted into shops, hotels, restaurants, and museums.
Phuket has a wonderful mix of nationalities who have chosen to live on this island. The population includes Thais, Chinese, Malays, Indians and Nepalese, a young and growing Eurasian community, and a unique mix of Hokkien Chinese and Thais called 'Baba'. You can see the Baba community's heritage in Phuket's Old Town, especially in its architecture, commerce, clothes, and way of life. The core of the Old Town essentially is made up of 5 roads and several sois (small streets): Rasada Rd, Phang Nga Rd, Thalang Rd, Dibuk Rd, and Krabi Rd. Exploring on foot is the best way to check out Phuket Old Town's Sino-Portugese architecture, narrow laneways, and traditional shophouses. Due to 1-way systems and lack of parking in the Old Town, it's not always easy to get around in a motorbike.

Amazing view point

Khao Rang Viewpoint in Phuket Town.
Khao Rang Viewpoint – sometimes called Rang Hill Viewpoint– is among the most famous of the many viewpoints around Phuket. The charming location offers unrivalled views to the south, right across the island’s main city and all the way to the Big Buddha, atop the hills in the distance. Some of the small, verdant islands off Phuket’s east coast are also visible. The viewpoint itself is marked with a beautiful open pagoda, which leads out to a large viewing platform at the edge of the hilltop, with guardrails for safety. The whole area is surrounded by landscaped gardens and mature rubber trees, making it a very peaceful and natural spot. There is also a modest selection of cafés nearby, which take full advantage of the fantastic view.

Old Temple

Wat Chalong is a historical landmark and Buddhist temple in Phuket's Chalong Bay. For centuries, locals come to pray almost every day while westerners learn about Buddhism during their holiday.
Poh Than Jao Wat is one of the most important Buddhist statues within Wat Chalong. It's located in the westerly old hall of the temple, with 2 statues of an elderly gentleman called Ta Khee-lek. He was a famous local who had won many lotteries after consulting the Poh Than Jao Wat statue. Nonsi is another prominent statue in this hall. One of the Wat Chalong's halls displays a gilt-covered statue of Luang Poh Cham. It also contains the statues of Luang Poh Chuang and Luang Poh Gleum, who were the temple's ex-abbots. While Phuket can sometimes be very warm, it's inappropriate to wear revealing clothes inside a place of worship. Make sure to cover your shoulders, chest, belly, and legs if you want to enter a temple in Thailand. Remove your shoes when entering some of the buildings, especially the sermon hall and chedi. It's also best not to wear your most expensive shoes, just in case someone else mistaken walks away with them. Wat Chalong Opening Hours: Daily from 8am to 5pm Location: 70 Village No.6 Chao Fah Tawan Tok Road, Chalong, Muang, Phuket 83000, Thailand Tel: +66 (0)76 381 226

Chillva Market Phuket is a cool, trendy night market with a somewhat bohemian vibe and an impressive selection of food and fashion stalls. Hard to miss by the side of Yaowarat Road (which runs by Tesco Lotus, on the way towards Phuket Town), it has a distinctive look created by the use of colourful shipping containers as shopfronts. The stores in the upcycled containers are open every day, but the best time to visit is on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday, when the flea market comes to town, setting up in tents and little hawker stalls to fill up this 6,400-square-metre marketplace. At the heart of the market is a small stage with a pond behind and amphitheatre in front, both of which host live performances when the market is in full swing. Highlights of Chillva Market Phuket Chillva Market Phuket is more popular among locals than tourists. Everything happening on stage is completely incomprehensible to anyone not fluent in Thai. Many of the goods on sale are suitable for hip local teenagers. On the upside, it gives you a much more local experience than other Phuket markets. Prices are generally more reasonable, with quality and fashionable t-shirts from around 130 baht, sunglasses from 100 baht, and handmade beauty products from 30 baht. Food vendors make up around more than half of the stalls and permanent stores at Chillva Market Phuket. You'll find funky pubs, cafes, ice cream parlours, and a wide selection of street foods. Prices are generally very low. Large servings from the market's more popular shops rarely exceed a couple of hundred baht. Being quite small, taking a leisurely walk around Chillva Market Phuket won’t tire you out or take you half the night to explore. It's best to visit after 6pm when the air is cooler and the market enjoys a much livelier atmosphere. Opening Hours: Monday–Saturday from 5pm to 11pm (closed on Sundays) Location: 141/2 Yaowarat Road, Phuket Town, Phuket 83000, Thailand Tel: +66 (0)99 152 1919
