A great facility just five minutes away. Just walk to the top of Wignall, cross Argyle St , walk a short way up Yardley then left into Thomas. The wonderful State is just the other side of Federal. You'll love it.

The famous North Hobart dining strip is on your doorstep as well. Just follow the same directions to the state cinema and it's all there in front of you. There's cuisine of every type (and every price point).

Though the famous Saturday market is operating on a limited scale at the moment, the Salamanca precinct itself offers the very best of Hobart. Restaurants, shops, galleries, historic ambience and waterfront vistas, it's all there. Take a metro bus down Argyle or Elizabeth streets. An Uber should cost you $7-10. Its a pleasant 30 minute downhill walk. I'd recommend strolling down Elizabeth St, there's many attractive buildings to admire as you make your way down to the waterfront.

Cafe just at the top of the street. Extremely popular with locals. You might need to book ahead.

MONA is just a quick 15 minute drive north on the Brooker highway. Why not go the scenic route though and take the famous MONA ferry from Franklin wharf.

It's a good, full day trip. One of Australia's great historic sights. A scenic one hour plus drive down to the site, why not stop for a coffee at the stunning pirates bay lookout, which is about two thirds of the way down.

Neighbourhoods

An historic and lively neighbourhood, you'll love the array of restaurants, cafes and galleries along the famed Elizabeth St strip. Sometimes the greatest pleasure of all is just wandering through the historic and eclectic precinct that runs from Ryde St south to Burnett St.

It's any easy 30 minute walk down hill to the city.

Buses run every 10 minutes on weekdays down Elizabeth St to the city, there's frequent services along Argyle St as well. An Uber to the Waterfront should cost $7-10. I'd recommend the walk down Elizabeth St, there's plenty of the unique Hobart ambience to enjoy as you take the 30 minute stroll down to the city. MONA is a 15 minute drive north along the Brooker highway. Why not take the relaxing ferry out there. It departs Franklin wharf every 30 minutes. The airport is 25-30 minutes away. It's about $40 in an Uber. There's a Sky Bus as well.

Weather can be variable.

Winter is cooler than most of the mainland and spring can be showery and windy. A good wind and spray jacket and could well come in handy all year round. In summer the UV is very high so I'd recommend a hat and sunscreen at all times.
