Sightseeing
"The White Dove of the Desert" is a must see. One of my favorite sites to visit in Tucson. Go inside the church, peek into the chapel, walk around and admire the architecture, cute gift shop. Eat Indian Fry Bread prepared by a native from the Tohono O'odham tribe fried on an open air mesquite grill as you order. Climb up to the top of the hill and overlook the city.
I've grown up in Tucson and going here is still a treat for me. So close to town and something you don't want to miss.

Don't expect to find your typical indoor museum. While some exhibits are inside most of this is an outdoor park introducing you to the desert wildlife, vegetation, history and culture.
Enjoyed by all ages. Best visited during nice weather.

Getting Outdoors
Great place to just get out in nature and enjoy the desert.
Take the tram from the visitor's center to the top. Get out and walk down the canyon as far as you want before catching the tram back down to the parking lot. Such a beautiful place to walk or hike. No cars or bikes allowed so you can walk on the road if you don't want to hike (locals use this for daily exercise).
This is also the trailhead for some great hikes. Get information at the visitors center - one of the most popular is seven falls.

Walk up a paved road that is closed to vehicles for a great view of the city. Locals use this as part of their exercise routine - from fitness trainers running up and down multiple times to multi-generational families pushing strollers and/or wheelchairs, it is a favorite of all.

At the intersection of River and Campbell is St. Philip's Plaza, St. Philip's in the Hills Church, Joesler Village, the Trader Joe's Shopping Center, and The Rillito River Walk.
There is a variety of restaurants, galleries, shops, and more. It's a great place to just walk around and enjoy. There is a Farmer's Market on Saturday and Sunday. In the evening there is live music in the courtyard that is enjoyed by outdoor diners at all 3 of the restaurants.

The best way to get around Tucson is in a car.
The whole city is easily accessed from Farm View Bungalow or Silver Street Retreat. Parking is easy everywhere except downtown (which can be challenging but even still is very doable).

Walk the Rillito river walk or bike the loop.
Easily accessible from either of our properties. walk from Farm View, bike from either, or a quick drive from Silver Street. To walk from Farm View: Go west on Roger road. Turn north on mountain avenue. This will lead you directly onto the path. If you use the pedestrian bridge it will lead you to the Rillito Racetrack. The Farmers Market on Sundays is really nice. One of our favorite vendors sells THE most yummy breakfast burritos. It will be the one with the longest line.
