The Island is full of ideal inshore fishing spots that you don't need a boat to access. Much of the western gulf-side is good for surf fishing, & the western sound-side is good for wade fishing. On the eastern end, there are additional fishing spots such as the pier at Billy Goat Hole & several spots along the beaches or from the jetties. Sand Island located at the Public Beach is good for wade fishing on the inner side & surf fishing on the outer gulf-side. There are two public launches located at the East End of the island near the Ferry Landing, and Fort Gaines. A third launch is located behind the Gulf Breeze motel for a small fee.
