Gorgeous location for a day trip. Depending on how motivated you are, you can hike from the lower to upper falls, which is 5 miles. Make sure to check into the shuttle availability or leave a car at the other end.
Another nice afternoon is to take the row boats over to the island and play in the falls. Pack a lunch and enjoy a picnic or stop in to the gas station in town. Paradise Recreational Sports has excellent sandwiches to go.

If you're looking to see Pictured Rocks this is the way to go. Rent a pontoon for 1/2 or full day and enjoy the view. You can pull up to the beach and swim or have a picnic lunch, and look for rocks. Take it all the way down to Spray Falls and swim in the waterfall in Lake Superior. It's spectacular!
