Mt. Kineo is a must see for travelers and a favorite of the locals. Historically, Mt Kineo was a place for the rich and famous where there was once a majestic Hotel with large gatherings. Today it houses a 9 hole golf course, walking trails, hiking trails to the Mountain's top, and the famous "Pebble Beach" that is open to the public for swimming and boating. The 700' backside cliffs are breathtaking with waters beneath that are nearly 300' deep. Mt. Kineo is easily accessed by personal watercraft or guests can take a boat shuttle from Rockwood Landing over to the Island for a small fee. Mt. Kineo is visible from our cabin.

It offers snacks and beverages, large decks for sightseeing and history of the area.

Summertime in Maine is very short and vacationer's book months ahead of time. If you are planning a trip to our beautiful town and want to rent a motor boat to adventure around the lake then I recommend booking early. Boat rentals tend to sell out fast.
