This is where Buddy Holly and the big bopper play their last concert in the 1950s at the Winter dance party before their plane crashed. It is a historical monument in Clear Lake and there are still many concerts played there today. Check out the surf ballroom website for upcoming events and tickets.

State Beach is definitely the best swim & hang beach.
Of all of the CL beaches, State Park Beach is the best for swimming or anchoring a boat most of the time due to that shallowness, sand, and its location in SE corner of lake is protected from wind more times than on North Shore.
