The white tower of Thessaloniki is more than a historical monument. It’s a meeting point with your fellow travelers or friends and a great target to go out and walk or ride your bicycle and explore the beach frond pedestrian, the views of the thermaicos gulf and it’s amazing sunsets. Along the way towards the monument you can also see the old part of Thessaloniki ano poli in the background hills. The monument operates as a museum in a scheduled interactive historical story board. Have a nice walk ;)

Personally I like the hills, made the ano polis an unique observatory! You need to dress up comfy with sport shoes and take the long way uphill..water and snacks can found anywhere on your way..as you climbing towards the city’s old fort, make a stop every since and look around you, the majestic views of the gulf and the city will pay the hard bill of going up;) There are a lot of churches, chapels and 2 monasteries worth to visit. If you get lost in the small streets-feels like in a Greek islands- just go down hill:) The food in this area is very descent priced and yummy. Every corner has a small secret taverna. H Stasi is a highly recommended place right in kalitheas square.
