For a small town Powell River is blessed with some amazing eateries and an abundance of choices. If you've been here before chances are you've already sampled some if not all of these favourites. Starting with places for breakfast to lunch and dinner, taking you to Westview, Cranberry, Townsite, Wildwood and Lund you're sure to find something you like on this list!

Best coff ee in town.... no contest, great baking too. A cool, hip vibe with local music and art changed regularly. The food is lovely, try our favourites the Curried Tofu Scramble (vegan) or The Eldred: a Prosciutto, fig jam, goat cheese, caramelized onions grilled sandwich to die for. Meet some of the locals and check out the awesome tile work around the bathroom sink, done by my friend, amazing artist Pierre :)

A little diner on the way to Townsite by way of Cranberry. This is what breakfast at your grandma's tasted like. Home made and so good! The decor is quirky and fun, like stepping back in time to a 50's diner with a long soda bar at the front serving banana splits, milkshakes, floats, and sundaes; brightly painted walls, wood floors, and tables in various shapes and sizes. Try the Big Ukranian for a plate piled high with sausage, bacon, pierogis, eggs, hash-browns, toast, sour cream, & grilled onions. They also have excellent pancakes, waff les or french toast.

As soon as you walk in, you are greeted with the exquisite smells of Indian cooking coming from the open kitchen, located in a renovated little bungalow the place has several small rooms making the venue quite intimate. Great atmosphere, fantastic food and superior service what more could you want!

What to do nearby
Blessed with a beautiful seaside setting and an abundance of sun, clear water and sandy beaches, Powell River is a favoured destination of families and adventure travellers seeking a wide variety of outdoor activities and recreational sites. Including, hiking, camping and kayaking, excellent fishing, and superb scuba diving. Powell River is a popular year-round sea-to-mountain recreation area, with something for everyone. Miles of hiking trails lead to beautiful lookouts, waterfalls, peaceful lakes, and spectacular alpine hiking. All this in a town that lays claim to the mildest climate in Canada, where the sun shines each year for an average of 1,760 hours.
Grab the snorkel, beach towels, kids and a cooler this is one of the best swimming beaches and it's 5 min for Hearthstone Village. Palm Beach Regional Park is also the location of the 30+ year old Sunshine Music Festival, which happens on Labour Day weekend. Eagle River Waterfalls can be accessed just south of the Park on the highway or beach, and is a local favourite for cli ff-jumping. One of the coolest swimming holes around–and disclaimer: it’s not really a beach–but there is kind of a small one to chill out at on top of the falls. If you’re brave, you’ll jump off the falls, depending on how high the water level is! Then you can swim up and climb behind the waterfall for a magical view, and jump through them, like you’re breaking a glass window.
